How did you first have your encounter with the sport? Also, what age did you watch and did you ever work in the industry? If you did what is it like in the industry? I remember watching Boxing as a kid, but outgrew it and watched Pro Wrestling and action movies a lot. Then I came back to watch it in 2011. So, who were the boxers you idolized then? P.S. I remembered I liked Tyson as a kid. He was just ruthless too.
My brother was on the Marine Corps boxing team with Obed Sullivan. My brother took me to a gym when I was about 8 years old. Fought as an amateur, got seriously injured. Got into the business side of boxing. I currently serve as a Professional cutman. I have worked all over the USofA , Switzerland, Australia, etc. I work with Kevin Johnson, worked the corner of Max Alexander (vs Roy Jones Jr), Darnell Boone, Keith McKnight, Gabe Brown, Adam Richards, Robert Allen (later years) among many other Southeatern USofA Boxers. I was the Special Advisor for UFC 145 in Georgia. I served as President and CEO of P.U.N.C.H. Charity, KINGPIN'S Charity that benefits ill children. Being in the Industry has its ups and downs. Ive been to many Big Fights all over the world, met alot of A-List celebs, but the downside is Ima away from home alot.
I honestly do not remember. I'd watch a few fights here and there, or at a get together, then slowly got into it. My friend was a boxer and we'd debate at times.
Used to hear family members talk about Tyson as a kid, that's what got boxing in my head. Shane Mosley made me a hardcore fan in his first fight against De La Hoya, been hooked ever since.
My dad made me watch it since I was born and he listened to the fights on the radio with his own Pa. I'd listen to some fights on the radio before I'd pay to watch them.
I used to watch it when it came on Espn. The fights that I remember the most of the earlier ones I watched were Ward & Burton and Toney and Jirov. Before that I remember seeing Mosely, Tyson ect. Those 2 fights were the ones that really drew me in.
As funny as it sounds my favorite boxers were Floyd & Tzyu and became a big Pac fan after his Lucero fight.
My Dad and Brother in Law would sit and watch it ever since I was born, soI grew up with it. Camacho, Mancini, Leonard, saw the rise of Tyson.
tyson was also the one that made me paid attention to boxing though i heard ali from my pop and uncles. was in college when he became youngest hvy champion. but he was competing with another michael, not michael jackson though it was also good.
As a kid 8/9 years oldish I loved the Benn and Eubank rivalry ! I watched Frank Bruno a lot and Tyson Mania was huge when I was growing up ( I remember watching Tyson v Bruno 1 on Xmas or Boxing Day ! Years later I remember watching Lewis v Tyson in the pub think I was 19 or 20 ! Then one night I came home from work after night shift and De La Hoya v Mayweather 24/7 was on and from then I really got into following Boxing seriously !
Tyson and Naseem. Dad watched plenty of fights but these two got me into it. Took a while to get back into boxing after these 2's brief careers. Now really love watching boxing more for the technical aspects.
