This was a close fight despite what some people say, no matter how ugly Bernard made it. I had Calzaghe winning by 1 to 3 points.

Stylistically both fighters are bad for each other. Hopkins should not be getting hit over 200 times, landing a lower % albeit harder shots, roughed up on the inside at times as one of the greatest pocket fighters in history, and throwing a dismal 470 punches after throwing over 650 his last fight.

Calzaghe should not be getting dropped early, rocked again and nearly dropped later to a fighter who hasn't stopped a guy in ages and his workrate should not have dropped from over 1000 punches his last fight to 700 this fight.

Their styles are just poison for each other, which meant it would have been a great fight in their primes. :good

I will always respect Hopkins dedication in the gym. His story is amazing and he is my favorite fighter of this era. He takes boxing seriously, but he is an egotistical ******* that needs to give Joe some credit as well. I can see him being bitter about this loss. He felt he landed the much better shots had Joe down, hurt, but he was outworked plain and simple. He should come out today and give Joe the credit he deservers but he won't. He still does not give Taylor credit and it is a shame. :-(

good post. in his post-fight interview I just thought he was a twat, not one ounce of respect. just saying he schooled him and made him look like an amateur. yeah he troubled Calzaghe at times but saying all that **** makes me think he's losing his mind with old age aswell.

DLH made him rich as hell and I think the 20 defenses really made him arrogant with everyone around him calling him a legend. He truly believes he is the Tiger Woods of boxing and just him training his ass off and mentally preparing would win him a fight.

Last night was the first time I saw Hopkins ever get beat in the championship rounds, and that includes his fight with a young Roy. He needs to retire. The fact that he has been able to hang with Tarver/Winky/Joe and Taylor in his 40's and beat 2 of them shows what a special fighter he is, but his time is up. I hope Joe has 1 more fight and retires too. He is gonna get beat soon if he keeps fighting he is on the decline as well. I honestly don't know if he beats Dawson.

I would like to see Morales, Barrera, Hopkins, and Calzaghe all call it quits, no bull**** and go in the HOF together. :good

BHop is being pushed out of the sport with this loss and he is not ready to quit. You have to understand the mental aspect of it. Just like with Glen Johnson. If an old fighter gets a close fight and comes out not hurt just like Glen Johnson did and Bhop had no damage literally. They think in old school terms **** the rounds and scoring I didnt lose. It is a mental victory to them. Bhop was supposed to get his ass whooped but he did not even look like he has been in the ring for 12 long rounds with Calzaghe. He proved his point that compubox was bull**** and the HBO announcers were giving Calzage credit for

Indeed, I never saw Hops lose the 11th and 12th round of a fight. In fact, he hardly ever does not win both (notable exception, round 11 of the Taylor rematch).

How is it ineffective if it wins rounds? That would be effective would it not?

It was ineffective agression. Hopkins was definately landing the cleaner, harder shots, and HBO was on Calzaghe's nuts but he was outworked late. I am confident that Hop 8 years ago beats Joe from that same period with both a their peak but Bernard looked tired late last night. Have you ever seen Hopkins look tired late in a fight?

Never seen Bhop tired. Bhop was competitive with on hand as I said before the fight and will say it again. To know nothing idiots like China hand and Amsterdam that claimed this great win when there guy got off the canvas from a grandpa. Bhop has been a one handed fighter for a long time. His left hook is non existent. If he had that punch he would of beat calzaghe easily b/c he was open for it after every right lead. Bhop could not get it out b/c he aint got his offensive arsenal anymore.

Like Joe couldn't work the right hook because Bernard was holding his right hand all night...

Hopkins proved ungracious and dishonorable in defeat.

Clearly a bad loser, as if we didn't already know...

The vast majority of his supporters on ESB are unsurprisingly no different.

Joe needs to give Bhop credit. I can see a draw. I had it 114-113 bhop. Bhop will try to stir something up to get another fight. He is a classless dog. I am glad he had to eat his words. Racist sucker.
