Which is why he should get an American trainer instead

No chance he goes back to Billy.

Have people forgotten how poor he was under Billy in their last 3 fights together?

Alex was in the newspapers up here talking about Billy's ability of reading fights and that was a reason for the change of trainer, can't remember exactly about Eddie Hearn but I'm sure I read similar comments from him.

I just think it would have been good for Ricky, Alex and Eddie to come out saying he needed a change because he was stale and thanking Billy for all the good work he had done for Ricky.

It's nothing to with trainers, until he sorts himself out the trainer is irrelevant.

According to todays scottish sun rag , Ricky will be back out on sept13th in manchester on a matchroom bill at lightwelter, Then possibly back in a domestic title fight in glasgow NOV/DEC

    1. LightWelter imo is suicidal due to the lack of power
    2. Fighting at domestic level money surely it wouldnt be paying enough to pay to keep yourself and pay for your training etc through an 8-10 week camp

Food Lodgings etc in London for 8-10 weeks plus sparring money then your 15% to your manager and 10% to your trainer plus cutsman etc , Hed be fighting for the middle of a doughnut imo

    Why move up? Mental.

He's (and I hate to use this word) scared to take a punch from LW's, moving up is hardly going to help...allied to the fact his punching power is non-existant and he is making a huge mistake.

Marsili is (was?) a good champion, and may be too strong for Burns at this point. Di Rocco at 140 is a weaker champ IMO, and is a good target for Burns if he does move up.

A nice easy fight against Matthews to build up a bit of confidence. Then possibly the winner of Arbil and Crolla.

Not sure that's a great move as he doesn't seem to have the power at lightweight so will struggle at Light welter

I told you before Mrs Nelson Brophy never went down to Es*** with Ricky to train with Tony due to financial reasons. Are you suggesting Brophy can afford this more than Ricky? Burns will do whatever it takes for the good of his career you fool. #Whoateallthepies

if burns is serious about carrying on he should start again , fight lots of domestic fights and European level regain his confidence and work on his ranking from there. He says he has plenty of years left so why not take a small break and fight on the domestic scene again , he will still earn a decent living and if a title shot comes up hopefully after some wins he will be able fight at world level again
