Robert Garcia: Beside Maidana Khan has a Chance Against Mayweather

Khan is too devoid of smarts, punch resistance, and skills to beat Mayweather.

I would give him a 10% chance of beating Mayweather, if I am being generous to Khan

 

Khan's skills have always been overrated. He has a nice jab and some range. His footwork and balance are poor, his combos are not accurate, he doesn't have really good fighting instincts/fluidity for a world class fighter, his defense is largely his legs.

Judah was a smaller target, and Floyd had more to worry about with Judah's power. Oscar was a bigger and more skilled and smart fighter than Khan, even at 34.

Khan looked pretty good against Collazo, but he's still largely just a guy who relies on physical gifts more so than skills. His speed makes people overrate his skills. He may have success for a couple of rounds, but he's too predictable and flawed to have much success after Mayweather adapts.

All those guys think khan has a chance i seen one where porters dad said something similar, i agree with them when i just try an picture how the fight goes

 

It's harder to picture how 147 Khan does it...we haven't really grasped what he is capable of...

We saw what 140 Khan could do and how he fights pre 2011...

But alot has changed for him and it's clear he is adapting for whoever he fights. His stamina still isn't what it was a few years back...

Should stick him in with Alexander who is a solid boxer at the weight, decent height and range...if Khan can totally dominate him for 12 rounds then that would give a better indication of how he may fair against Floyd (although yes Floyd is a completely different fighter..but every fighter is different)

despite losing to better boxers Alexander still has always managed to take rounds away including in his Bradley & Porter fights. Khan has a good couple of inches and pounds on them guys.

It's takes devastating shots to put Khan down, so that would not be a thing against Floyd. Smarts is not his game, similar to Pac, it's overwhelming offense, though, Khan is better at it, he can actually intelligently advance. How many people are gonna have the skills to beat Floyd, you just hope that what you do is good enough to catch Floyd and hurt him, then take advantage of that, with the speed, high volume, and solid power of Khan you get plenty of opportunity for that.

 

I thought Khan was a B-grader, but after his last fight - I think he is lucky to be a C-grader.

As a similar example, Guerrero, who fought Mayweather, struggled with a fringe fighter in Kamegai.

 

He is absolutely right. Khan has a better chance than most against Mayweather at 147.

 

What's your definition of struggled? He blew Judah out the water after 3 rounds.

I bet as soon as Khan loses his next fight he's going to blame Virgil Hunter and hire Garcia.

 

If you know anything about boxing then you should know that Khan would cause Floyd problems..
