FW protects, protects, builds, builds then bang - a world title fight against the toughest opposition out there (usually), when his fighter is at their most confident having been built up and protected and this is the best way to do it. Hearn chucked him with lower level opposition a few times and Burns looked sh1te, therefore his confidence decreased and he was never going to be the same again. At least if he had fought Vasquez and lost he'd have gone in with his confidence sky high, put in a good performance and his confidence wouldn't have been dented afterwards.

Think the main point folk are forgetting here is , he was basically forced to leave FW as he had 3 failed camps for fights that were never properly contracted and to this day hes still not been paid the 160k from the Mitchell fight , the guy had to go to make a living as he hadnt earned a penny in over a year

He was totally right to leave Frank ******. Why should it cost him to work? Better of getting paid, Hearn has promoted 4 big earners for him, and he has got paid big bucks even though he put in 4 crap performances under Hearn

Yep Hearn took Burns back to Scotland earn't all he can from the Jocks and is now pissing back off with Burns ruined and Scotland no longer worth his time and yet people like you still praise him from high heavens, ****ing madness.

So bill what do you expect edward to do? have another fight at braehead maybe sell half an arena? hardly ruined scotland. Taking him away is i think the best idea, see if its possible to build again. You can go from hero to zero and vice versa in months in this game hopefully he will be headlining an outdoor show at Airdries stadium next summer thats what a would like to see

It would be nice to see, I doubt it will happen though, Burns does need to be rebuilt no doubt but put in the right sort of fights he can still sell in Scotland and the Scottish fans deserve that imo, why does Crolla or any other lightweight have to be in England now, there's still some good fights to be made?

I'm an Englishman by the way but even to me it stinks of a cash and grab affair what Hearns doing/done and I don't agree with it.

Burns was a world champion who fought top opponents, surely that is good for boxing. Would you rather see Burns make a string of defences against no-hopers?

You're wrong the best thing that Ricky did was join matchroom, at least he got paid the money that he deserved.

Unlike some previous fights which he still has not been paid for. So Ricky joining match room was the best thing that he ever done.

The move to Matchroom has been a complete disaster for Burns.

FW was perfect for Ricky interms of his best interests but not necessarily for Boxing fans in general. FW all those years ago picked up a decent domestic level
Kid but saw potential Based on his and the late Dean Powell expertise. FW plotted the perfect course to guide Burns to 2 World titles- quite simply Rickybwould never have acheived world champ status under any other promoter then FW who put in the large investment to make his dream reality.

So off to Eddie/sky he goes but unfortunately for Ricky Eddie was never going to be so keen to protect him like FW or does he have the knowledge to pick the correct fighters to suit Ricky. I think Eddie thought he was better then he was which is why he went for Beltran instead of a softer opponent after the Gonzalez scare...Ricky needed a softish authdox fighter to build confidence but instead got a seasoned/dangerous (not brilliant though) kid infront of him and gets his jaw busted...nothing could be done with Crawford so no problem with Eddie there but again the matchmaking for zkatican who isn't going to be a world champ IMO but the last thing after the Terrance fight Ricky needed was a hard hitting southpaw..not only did he need a confidence builder but it was also his first fight with Sims (that whole situation stinks IMO but that's a different thread).

The prob for Ricky was that he started to believe the hype.

He beat an overrated champion in Martinez who won the title from Nicky Cook - one of the worst belt holders in recent memory. He beat an overrated domestic/euro level Mitchell who beat an overrated domestic/euro level Murray and a shot former interim champ in Michael Katsidis. Put simply he never beat any truly world class operators IMO. That's not taking anything away from Ricky but some people got carried away when judging his ability.
