Savigne can beat both Sergev Kovalev and Adonis Stevenson, hes got as much power as they do but hes also a very skilled and intelligent fighter. Boxing fans deserve the chance to see those two fight against someone who has a chance to beat them. Anyone agree with this ?
I don't know Savigne. But I know Beterbiev, who already beat Kovalev in the ams and seem to pace himself better than Kovalev and more skilled than Stevenson. He also hit like a brute.
Savigne is fighting Jeff Lacy not sure if that prepares him for Kovalev or Stevenson at this point ..As far as Berterbiev I yet to see him fight..Will check out some videos on him
He can definitely compete with the best at 175 but I'm not sure if he'll get the chance to fight Kovalev or Stevenson, due to his age. If he's managed properly, he could conceivably get a shot at another WBA belt in a year or so, then the real belt with 2 more quality wins. Keep in mind that he isn't the kind of guy that people are itching to fight, so it will be an uphill climb to get attention.
He is clearly well schooled and takes pride in his conditioning. Solid jab, solid foot work, good right hand, good left hook...he also manages distance really well and conserves his energy exceptionally well.
Only seen him fight a couple of times but he looks pretty good. He certainly seems to pack a big punch but his balance doesn't appear to be too great and his chin seems a little shaky. Richard Hall had him badly hurt on a couple of occasions. Haven't seen Savigne fight yet, but my tame Boxrec Warrior informs me that he has a little work to do before throwing his name in the hat. Still, it's nice to see another prospect in the division. Jeff Lacy's name can still garner a little recognition (though I still want to know why Lacy vs Beterbiev failed to materialise - I've a feeling Artur coulda flattened him) and perhaps Savigne can add some more excitement to a division that seems to be on the up. I know Rusty Mike has his promoters hat on, but he should probably be steering Savigne more towards the Agnews and Thomas Williams Jrs (hell, in fact, why not Mekhontsev or Beterbiev) of the world before he starts talking big. Anyone remember Despaigne?
Beterbiev is a real exciting prospect - you can tube all his pro fights I think - most telling was Rayco Saunders. If this is the kinda stuff you like and have time for also tube Egor Mekhontsev - Beterbievs teammate from the Russian Ams who was possibly even more successful but is currently playing catch-up in the pro stakes. Both guys are murderous punchers with skills. LHW is set to light up over the next few years.
Savigne is very good, but not on the Kovalev/Stevenson level, imo. Still, a good and an exiting prospect in the already hot LHW division. Beterbiev, from what I've seen, is an animal. If brought up properly as a pro, he could be murderous. Mekhonteev is also another killer prospect, thught I rate him just a notch below Beterbiev. If I was Mike (and I f**cking ain't by a mile) I'd steer Savigne well clear of both Beterbiev and Mekhontsev, unless it's a title fight!
