well for all we know you could have been drinking all along As for Mundine-Calzaghe - 120-108 for Calzaghe, Mundine doesn't stand a chance
Mundine can't get even close to Calzaghe's workrate - if he is to beat Kessler he shouldn't try to replicate Calzaghe - he can't. As for the number of fights - most of Mundine's fights has been against low level opponents, which don't do much more good than sparring - Kessler has faced top opponents every time learning more.
Agreed. Kessler would beat Mundine even more convincingly if they met again, no question. Calzaghe would wipe the floor with him. Rick.
You kind of agree with me and misinterpret me at the same time? Im not saying Mundine would or could fight like Calzaghe or beat him for that matter, but there is an underlying weakness in Mundine's style, which if he bothered to observe from elite fighters (like Calzaghe) he would see that's a key ingredient to improving on his previous encounter with Kessler. And then we agree, that on current form Mundine looks to have dropped off in that dept, putting this down to fighting bums etc.
To say that Calzaghe would beat Mundine 120 - 108 is absurd and deluded to say the least. Mundine would give him a decent go, and if it went the distance, I reckon it'd end up something like 116 - 112, or there abouts.
Remember both bika & thornberry went the full 12 rds with JC so chances are mundine would do the same. But I think he'd fall short like the other as well.
I would give Mundine a better chance of beating JC then Kessler. JC throws arm punches, thus giving him his speed but also means he has **** all power really. Mundine wouldnt be intimidated against JC like he might by the perceived, and over-rated, power of Kessler. If Mundine uses his natual ability, Joe is very hittable. He'd be an underdog in both fights, but for mine would have a better chance in their with JC.
One judge had it 120-108 versus Kessler - and Calzaghe's workrate is somewhat higher than Kessler's. Add to that that Mundine has a tendency to become timid under pressure and Calzaghe's speed and Mundine wouldn't stand a chance...
I simply don't see Mundine winning a round versus a 100 punch a round Calzaghe. One of Mundine's biggest weaknesses is his workrate or lack of same. The few rounds he won against Kessler was due to Kessler slowing down, either due to his lack of fitness training going into the fight, or the heat down under, nerves due to it being his first big fight away from home or a fourth reason. Every round where Kessler kept his workrate close to his normal workrate 60-70 punches a round - he won clear. Calzaghe never slows down - never. Mundine might take a round or two in the start (depending on the venue) but that's it - sorry...
The rounds I had Mundine winning against Kessler were the 1st, 3rd, and 9th. I'd say Kessler still would have been pretty full of gas during those rounds. You Dane's are too much sometimes. It wasn't that long ago that you thought Calzaghe would never have the balls to fight Kessler, and were saying that you'd like to see how Calzaghe would handle someone like Mundine. Now that Calzaghe toasted Kessler, suddenly Mundine has zero chance and loses more convincingly than guys like Bika, Salem, and Ashira did.
but at least faetter,THN and dane pugilist came back and dident run off the forum like most of the danes.
