I know that everyone is talking about a Calzaghe-Roy Jones fight and Jones is one of my favorite boxers of all time, but I personally have no interest in seeing Joe fight another aging veteran. How do you all think he would match up against Pavlik???

Joe Calzaghe late TKO or shutout decision win.

If Joe wants respect, tough, he won't get it. He beat two fighters who were picked to beat him, who miracuolously transformed into hype jobs after their fights with Calzaghe. He answered his critics and went to America and won, but Hopkins is passed it and anyone could have beat him. If Joe fights and beats Pavlik, which I think he would do, then Pavlik would join the ranks with Kessler and Lacy as hype jobs.

Pavlik is a good fighter, but I don't think he could knock out Joe. Therefore Joe in UD probably 116-112.

Joe Calzaghe should fight Pavlik. If he beats him, perhaps even Joe's harshished of critics wouldn't be able to bring themselves to discredit Joe, would have now have defeated three men who were picked to beat him.

out of all the possible match ups i see this as pretty much the easiest one outside of pavliks big punch simply because pavlik does not have the skills to cope with someone like joe, pavlik comes straight forward and does not throw in bunches unless he has a fighter against the ropes (a position joe is never in) joe's speed even when hurt helps him get away with coming inside and even if he gets caught with one big shot you know that in that ecounter the time it takes pavlik to throw a one two is the same time it takes joe to slip inside kelly's guard and throw 6 scoring punches.

kelly is a great comeforward fighter,im not disrepsecting him in any way but joe is simply a stylistic nightmare for him and would use lateral movement all night.kelly has high workrate normally but this would be significantly decreased in a fight with joe and joe would be able to up his workrate from last nights fight, pavlik does not have the defence of bernard and would get countered coming in all night long and i see especially getting punished to the body.

this is the fight i want to see,its a pity it's unlikely to happen with joe wanting the huge payday with roy.but if it did happen i would see joe with a UD with some scary moments early.

Are you guys ****ing high, or what. Pavlik's right hands and left hooks would leave slappy joe with brain damage. But this fight will never happen because joe is a "legend killer" now, and isn't interest in anybody with a heart beat. After 7 months of calling Pavlik out all of a sudden he's talkng about Roy Jones! That's good because Joe proved last night that he needs to fight inside the geriatric boxing league.

Calzaghe would beat seven shades of **** out of Pavlik. It'd be a very one sided schooling.

Wait for about 10 years and then review all of JC's opponents - IMO there's still something to come from them...

Can we have Pavlik Tarver first then the winner of Jones /Calzaghe fight the winner of that ? I'd like to see Kelly Stretch Tarver first !

I agree. I think critics really underestimate JC's resume. I think he deserves to be considered a true great after what he accomplished. The only fighter out there that has a shot at JC 175 and under is Pavlik IMO. The reason is because JC wins with his constant pressure and workrate. The only one who can keep up with JC's amazing workrate is Pavlik. Having said that its speed vs power.
