.........and that is an overhyped fighter. I predicted that their was no way possible way for Hop to beat JC other than a DQ or robbery on the cards and so it proved. To me it was a no brainer in so far as every time Hop has fought a world class opoonent OF HIS OWN SIZE,he has lost,ie Roy Jones,Jermain Taylor twice, and now Calzaghe. A few years ago no one in the USA was interested in Hopkins at all. Then he starts beating up little guys from the Welter and Light Middle divisions and the overhyping begins!! To the fight.I had it wide for JC at 117-111(very close to the most experienced judge of the three) I don't believe that you can expect to win a fight(especially in the Capital of Entertainment) by back peddalling, holding for 12rounds solid, and potshotting the occasional right hand. Hopkins was more negative that Junior Witter when he faced Judah. And remember that Hopkins had ALL the controlled advantages.1) Home referee. 2) Three home judges. 3) Venue in home country. 4) An employee of the Golden Boy Promotions(I assume this was promoted by DeLaHoya?)
Wow, what utter stupidity...You say Hopkins was exposed, what about Calzaghe? He didn't look like a world beater himself. Nobody was exposed last night....What we saw were two world class fighters who had styles that that didn't compliment the other. Just a grind it out victory for Calzaghe, nothing more, nothing less
Hopkins Exposed? How can you say a fighter that is 43 yrs. old and at the end of his career exposed? I though Joe won and all and give him full credit but please man you make no sense.
:deal and you are crazy if you think the cards were stacked in Bernard's favor. the venue was all on Joe's side, really nobody in America gives a damn about him, and people want Bernard gone because he's not exciting and he doesn't sell fights, meanwhile Joe still is a very marketable fighter
Terrible post. How Americans can get flamed when Brits post this bull **** is BEYOND me. Hopkins proved last night exactly why they call him a legend. He was more impressive in losing, than Calzaghe was in winning.
Ok now you need to fall back you failed to metion his win over Tarver and Tito who going into that fight he was a 5-1 underdog !! If you feel he was overhyped then fine but there had to be a reason as to why Joe would leave his confort zone and come to Hopkins backyard ..The fight was close your prediction doesn't holdmuch weight considering how ugly the fight was as well ..
I've never rated Tarver an elite fighter, nor do many others. Trinidad? Oh please!! He was a welter/light middle which was the point I was making about Hopkins never defeating an elite fighter his own size. Furthermore, Tito was completely shut out by Winky, and was never in the fight with a past it Roy Jones. The whole Winky,Jones,Tito,Tarver,Hopkins carade was exposed the day Pavilk knocked out Jermain Taylor
Maybe, but still no wins against elite fighters of his own size when he WASN'T 43. Remember also that Calzaghe is no spring chicken and well past his best as well
Man, I am a Calzaghe fan. I made a good bit of cash off of Joe last night. I had Joe winning 8 or 9 rounds. But frankly in my eyes you are humiliating yourself, just give it the **** up and leave.
