Lara is much too reliant on his straight left hand. That isn't going to win it for him against Canelo. He's going to need to mix it up more than that but I don't know if he's able to. Lara holds his hands much too low too often during his fights. He'll throw a combo, then spin out with his hands down. He is there to be countered. Canelo is a good counter puncher and is accurate. If Angulo can catch him, no doubt Canelo can. Canelo might be troubled with the speed and movement the first few rounds, but, he's just got to be patient and try and close distance and get the fight on the inside and then he can take over. Unfortunately, Canelo isn't that great at closing distance and isn't very fleet of foot. He really isn't very good at moving forward whilst punching. He likes to be set to punch. That could be a problem. But, with that said, Lara isn't good at staying off the ropes. I do not believe he can stay off the ropes for 12 rounds. That is when Canelo can capitalize. Lara is not a good inside fighter and prefers to operate with his hands up as opposed to trading punchers. Canelo is a good inside fighter and lets off good combos when he's in close. I think that is what will eventually happen in this fight--Canelo will be able to get inside one too many times and Lara will fade and eventually be stopped in the late rounds.

I'd like to see how Lara is going to deal with his shots being picked off by Canelo's solid defense.

Is he going to be more aggressive? Switch it up? Canelo might not need to close the distance if Lara is trying to make up for inaccuracy.

Those are good points. Lara's rinse and repeat 1-2 style will not win him this fight. I just don't see it.

If anything, Canelo might freeze once again the way he did against Floyd.

He seems perplexed and clueless against someone with superior mobility and accuracy.

Although the Angulo fight is a sign that Canelo has a chance if he forces the issue but he need to be able to suck up punishment to get where he wants to.

And that is why Lara is being favored by so many in this one.

My prediction is for Alvarez to win, but if I'm getting specific I may go so far as to say the most likely single result is a close Alvarez decision in which the majority of viewers believe Lara won or was a draw...

I really do see this as a close, hard to pick fight.

Much props to both for taking it. Alvarez didn't need to fight the second or third best JMW (depending on view) less than a year removed from his first defeat but he did... and Lara is the goods.

Lara has struggled with Molina, Vanes, Angulo, none of whom are master boxers, Lara is vastly overrated as is Canelo.
But if they gave him problems, Canelo surely will, he has better defense, maybe more punching power, better combinations, than all of those opponents that he struggled with.

Lara's fans need to get over the Williams match, Quintana and Maravilla beat Williams as well, Paul wasn't the best technical boxer. Lara did the same thing as Sergio just he didn't have the power to KHTFO. It doesn't mean Lara is a master boxer like FMJ.

I have no idea who will win this match but I'm rooting and leaning towards Canelo.

This fight went pretty much as I expected with the exception of Canelo not being able to do more work when he got close. It's not that I didn't know he is bad at closing distance, but, usually when he gets there with an opponent, he's able to do some good work. He needs to learn how to keep his opponent where he wants him so he can work. Something very subtle that would've made the difference in this fight in terms of excitement and keeping Lara from running like a chicken. Overall the fight ****ing sucked and Lara did NOT want to engage in any way shape or form. It was a running performance if I ever saw one.
