Canelo wasn't inexperienced. He had 40 something fights.

Regardless of what any of us on this forum says, Mayweather and his team CLEARLY saw some benefit to them in making Canelo come down to 152, else they simply would not have asked for it. That's not to say a win over Canelo at 152 doesn't stand for a lot, but in my opinion, it's not as big as beating Canelo at 154.

Canelo didn't look right at the weigh in. He had those wight bits in the corner of his mouth and immediately after weighing in, he went and SAT DOWN and began taking on water. For someone to just go and sit down at the biggest weigh in event of all time I think says something....

I think a rematch with Canelo is quite likely if he beats Lara (that's a VERY big "if", I personally think Lara will do a number on him this weekend). If a rematch does take place, I'd be happy if its at a weight of no less than 154, and would give Floyd massive props (given that a rematch would infer Canelo is coming off of a Lara win).

I'm not here to slander Floyd, just highlighting that his team quite obviously saw some benefit in the catchweight. It was really disappointing, I think a fight at 154 would likely have gone a similar way and would have looked absolutely outstanding on Floyd's record, whereas in hindsight, a catchweight somewhat dampens the feat....

I think it's because Canelo told them that it was 154 or nothing, and Floyd wanted him to to know who the A-side was. I'm not saying that it definitely had no effect on him physically, but Canelo did go into negotiations making ultimatums, and left without getting them.

It's as old as Ray Robinson. Probably older.
