Weidman did not accidentally beat Silva anymore than he was a great wrestler by accident. The plain and simple truth is that Weidman knew what Silva was going to do in both fights, prepared for them and executed his plan successfully. Chris has the potential to be an all time great MMA competitor. He's a great grappler and beat a great striker by striking him.
I see Weidman's weakness as being his cardio. He's never gone past 3 rounds, he could barely lift his arms in the Demian Maia fight. Of course he didn't have a full camp and was coming off injury but still.
Weidman is a joke. he has one real name under his resume. and that is Anderson. Look at the resume of Dan Henderson. look at the resume of Daniel Cormier. Both which are 10x better than Chris the chump Weidman. Machida is gonna wreck this guy.
Lol His ONE real name (Silva) is a guy that no one else you mentioned in your post could beat..nor any other fighter he faced...Cormier is a different weight class. You do know Henderson was beat by Anderson as well...looking forward to you explaining why he and the others are 10x better
Weidman clearly beat Silva in the 1st round of the 1st fight. Weidman beat the **** out of Silva in the 1st round of the 2nd fight. Yet people seem to use the logic of how the fight ended = Anderson would have won hadn't it happened. Well, it did happen. And, Weidman gave you every reason to think he would ahve won anyway.
lol you clearly missed what i was saying. what does cormier weight class has to do with his record?? what does henderson getting beat by anderson have to do with this? Chris Weidman beat 1 person thats worth mentioning. Dan Hendo. Look at his resume. its stacked with good fighters. the man beat fedor and shogun twice Same with Cormier, lots of good fighters under his belt. Barnet, frank mir, big foot, hendo, then compare it to who the fuk Chris Weidman beat. thats right. you can only name one person. 1 fuking person.
Weidman is a good fighter, but I still consider him untested. 2 wins over Anderson Silva looks great on paper, but in context, Anderson Silva had been on top for so long and was getting older and was bound to lose to someone so to me I see Weidman as being more in the right place at the right time than some sort of GOAT who beat the previous GOAT. The Anderson Silva Weidman beat wasn't the Anderson Silva of his prime. I think UFC fans tend to root for who they can identify with and since the majority of them are young white males, they want to root for whoever looks like them and guys like Anderson Silva and Jon Jones don't look like them, but guys like Chris Weidman and Brock Lesnar do so they tend to get a bit overrated before they're proven. If Weidman can beat Machida and stay on top for more than a handful of title defenses he'll have to be considered legit, because titles pass around so often in UFC that if you can hold onto it for more than 3 or 4 fights, you're legit, no doubt about it.
if he can get through Belford and Machida I would say he is legit. but I don't see how he is going to beat Machida.
