I thought calzaghe looked like a total amateur in there, but he had much more energy than Hopkins. Enough to win him the fight 115-112
115-113 Calzaghe last night, and either 116-112 or 116-111 this morning. Hopkins did FAR less in the last 8 rounds than I initially thought.
Yeah, no way would I have put cash on B-Hop. Actually, if I was forced to put cash on it, I would have put it on Calzaghe.
I had £170 ($340) on it, and being a student that is a **** load for me so there would have been no hot meals for 196osh for a while if Joe didnt win. Fortunantly he did so now I can live like a king for a while, .
the setanta team spent to much time dwelling on the first round knockdown and its effect on the scorecards. in some rounds calzaghe was on top like the 8th and they were still making remarks about the 2 points from the first round.
I agree, I watched the replay with no sound on, and the clarity without them going on made the fight much easier to score.
I had it 116-111 before and after the replay. Joe did a good job of neutralizing the lead right, the main punch Hopkins had been scoring with, by the middle of the fight. Hopkins was rarely landing cleanly as the fight went on, so I have to wonder why some people are saying he was landing the cleaner shots the entire fight. Early on, that was the case...after the early rounds, Joe was landing both cleaner and more frequently. Unless people are scoring for Bernard every time he lunges in with his head down, gets a punch blocked, and initiates a clinch, I don't know how Bernard could be scored the winner. Hopkins wasn't dominating on the inside once he got there.
I re-scored and had it 116-111, clear as day. How on earth did anybody score this as a close fight without being biased? 9 rounds to 3, then the hate crew gets in here and says Taylor did better!atsch
