If I feel sorry for the career of a fighter then it's Victor Ortiz career

he is the alice in wonderland trifecta, he lacks, heart, courage and a brain. if he had those 3 he would be undisputed p4p champion. most important would be brain, if he had half a brain he wouldn't need as much heart or courage, his ring iq would have kept him from getting into sloppy toe to toe confrontations and getting his chin cracked.

Ortiz is also in a new TV series that's being shot at the moment called 'Southpaw', it has a star-studded line up including Jake Glylenhall, 50 Cent, Rachel McAdams, Lupita (the girl from 12 years a slave), a LOT of other stars...

Out of all fighters, why would you feel sorry for that weirdo Ortiz?

He accomplished more and made more than 99% of fighters out there. Most boxers hardly get paid squat and don't come within sniffing distance of a world title shot.

Ortiz won world titles and made millions of dollars.

He didn't suffer any injustices or get avoided by big names.

What Mayweather did was unsportsmanlike, but Ortiz gets no sympathy from me. First he tries a E-Honda flying headbutt and then he tries to make-out with Floyd in the ring.

I would like to see him fight again though. He made for some good fights, and (unintentionally) funny interviews.

 

Why feel sorry for a guy with limited skills but still managed to earn millions of dollars in the ring?

 

I taught that was why you backed Russell to ko Loma because you felt sorry for Russell with his limited skills and decided to give him some support?

Or did you back him because your an idiot who knows nothing about boxing?

 

Pretty good, those are some big names.

I've always liked Rachel McAdams.

 

Sorry to nitpick but it's not a TV series it's a movie. I think production companies got scared off of boxing related TV shows when "Lights Out" failed to catch on with the broader public.

that said, Fuqua (the director) is a good choice. Training Day was tense and well shot, same with Shooter...even Olympus Has Fallen had discernible action -- which I think is totally necessary for a boxing related movie.

He'll shake the camera some but I bet the fights will be clear and easy to follow visually.

Okay, back to people not feeling bad for Ortiz.

 

he didn't have bad luck. He was overrated and given big fights where he was overmatched. I don't feel sorry for him I feel he got opportunities in fights he really was not good enough to be in. And he earned money in fights maybe he didn't deserve to.

 

He had all the opportunities in the world.

Maidana, Campbell, Peterson, Berto, Mayweather, failed come back fight against Lopez, failed comeback fight against Collazo.

All those fights at only 27 years old.

I feel that maybe his excuse for the Maidana quittage was weak, but it was completely unfair for armchair warriors to insult him for not continuing against Lopez with his jaw broken in two places. It's a fight he was winning, why would he quit unless he was in unbelievable pain.

 

Ortiz doesnt want you to feel sorry for him, as he would say "Hey, man..thats boxing bro you know? Im still a champ bro" with a dumb smile on his face.

 

He is in the new expendables movie so if he invested his boxing money and does a few movies he will have had a great career we could only dream of
