He's French, so, that tells you all you need to know about the guy. Groves' problem is mental, nothing else. He fought stupidly in the 2nd fight with Carl. Waited way too long to get going in that fight and he got knocked out because of it. Why not fight on Mayweather's undercard against J'Leon Love? That is a more interesting fight at least and definitely a winnable one for Groves and it gets him some good exposure. The fight against the Frenchman is just fodder. It doesn't propel Groves anywhere regardless of the fight being an eliminator. It's a step backwards and it just reinforces possible bad habits by fighting a gimme. George could actually use a good sports psychologist and possibly a new trainer. Hook him up with Roach or Beristain and he'd improve quite a bit. I really like George. I think he has some really good talents. But, just because you got knocked out doesn't mean you take this big of a step backwards.
Agree with the new trainer bit but he's not going to get a world title shot so an eliminator against a winnable opponent that's made for him is a good move
Final eliminator against what is by all accounts a very average opponent, just to get the confidence back etc, then on to a world title shot against either Dirrell or Bika, both of whom are good but if Groves' has real ambition then he has to be beating that level of opposition. I'd say that's very good matchmaking imo
Seems like a good match to me- GG needs to get his confidence back after coming off two straight defeats. The frenchie should be an easy win and tees him up nicely for bika, which he should also win. Seems like a smart move

The two losses to Froch have really effected him, he was so sure he was going to win that his mental state is f**ked. A tune up fight it the best option. If he fought someone like Kessler theres a chance he could lose and that would be a disaster for him
Great matchmaking. After two knockout defeats, to come back in a fight for the Euro title and a final eliminator against an opponent who shouldn't really threaten him too much is great. The guy is highly ranked in the WBC and IBF but has little knockout power and has only gone 12 rounds once.
Kessler hasn't fought in 14 months since the loss to Froch so there'd have to be at least a tune up to build up any potential Groves fights. Otherwise the Sauerland's wouldn't be maximising their potential earnings. And Kessler hasn't even fully made clear whether he will fight on let alone have a tune up announced. He said prior to Froch/Groves 2 that he'd be interested in fighting the winner. But he's not getting the Froch fight any time soon especially on the back of such a hefty lay off. Whilst Groves fight with Rebrasse is almost a full blown certainty and therefore not hugely interesting for us as fans; it does allow him to pick up the European belt and also guarantee him a shot at the WBC title next. So you can hardly blame Groves for agreeing, plus it'll boost his confidence after the Froch defeats.
after two straight losses, one of them a devastating KO, did people really think they would put him in against a big name. I don't think the Bika fight is a given for Groves. Doubt he could stop him and Bika is as strong as they come!
Its excatly the fight he needs , he will not stop Bika , at least i would be very suprised if he did , but he should easily outbox him , and by a big margin . Grab his title and take it from there . This other fights a waste of time , If he want a confidence booster he can go into a couple of east end boozers , around midnight , theres bound to be one or two drunken thugs who fancy there chances , Knock out 2 of them and he has a double confidence booster , Should'nt expect fans to pay for him to get his confidence back , if he has'nt got the confidence , give it away , get a proper job , stacking shelves at Asda or something .
