Don't even waste your time IB, he's just another *** on this board that has to talk about Mayweather 24/7. I have all these ******s on ignore. Their **** is ruining this forum.
It's not too complicated to understand. Canelo is a boxer-fighter while Lara is a pure boxer. I hope they both will entertain me on this coming weekend. Maybe I'm a little bit too harsh on him. Lets see.
This fight will just leave me thinking why Angulo was so shocking against Canelo. Pretty sure the first round body shot broke his ribs or something lol.
Both fighters can box, with Lara being the better boxer of the two. Both can bang with Canelo in the early rounds having the better explosive power. This bout is one of the best match ups of 2014. There will be plenty of drama and very likely, a surprise ending. :yep
IMO, Canelo should not box because Lara is the better boxer like you said. So, Canelo needs to fight inside by working at the body mainly to slow Lara down before tearing him apart. But I'm not sure whether Canelo can do it or not.
Lara Mayweather Hopkins Trout Rigondeaux Ward All of the above get termed "boring". None of them really are. There don't need to be nonstop Gatti vs. Ward style fireworks if there is technical skill being applied; that can be even better to watch at times. Hugging, spoiling *******s - they are the boring ones. That is worlds apart from sticking and moving, hitting and not getting hit using movement and emphasizing clean accuracy in your punching. The holders are just cheap and ugly to watch, effective or not.
I know what you're saying, but Canelo didn't fight inside with Mayweather and unlike how Lara will fight, Mayweather stood right in front of Canelo all night. Plus, Canelo didn't do this with Mayweather even though he is bigger than Mayweather. Instead Canelo choose to fight outside with mayweather, and this is very likely how he will choose to fight Lara. Maybe it will be Lara who fights differently and fight flat footed with less movement while exchanging toe to toe with Canelo. I doubt it since Lara is the typical Cuban fighter and this isn't their M.O. If Canelo chooses to box on the outside, We'll see how good Canelo is able to utilize his jab and straight right.
BJ Flores said recently that Angulo fought so poorly and had so little on his punches is because he had to cut nearly 50 pounds to get down to weight.
Ironically, a lot of those fighters you mentioned have been described as huggers by some. It all comes down to personal taste and I would not disagress with anyone who called the above fighters boxing.
Canelo is not the fighter who loves to go inside against his opponents all the time. Unlike Chavez Sr., Canelo prefers fighting outside to inside because he's also a boxer. He steps forward moving his head and throwing his punches. That's his style. I'm sure that I can see his punches missing the target a lot in this fight. Those punches will hit the air instead of hitting Lara's face. Something that you can call it "frustration."
Which fighters? Ward and Hopkins? They are the only guys on that list who really clinch ever, and they do it strategically - not to excess. One tool in their kit. People like John Ruiz, for instance, they do almost nothing but as they have nothing else to fall back on (whereas the extremely versatile Hopkins & Ward have plenty else). That is the boring ****.
