Please post your scores. When watching the fight originally, I thought it was very close and it could have gone either way. However, after re-watching, I had it scored 7 rounds to 5, 114-113 Calzaghe (10-8 round Hopkins in the first round). Being generous I could have scored the 11th round even, which would make it a draw. I don't think there was any way in which Hopkins could have come away with the fight, purely due to his inactivity. What was clear though, was that Hopkins was winning the fight when he had his wind, that being in the initial few rounds of the fight, and in the round where he took 5 mins off for the low blow seems to tell me that if Hopkins was a little younger he would of beaten Calzaghe no problem. Props to Calzaghe for grinding the fight out, even though Hops made him look BAD in the process :smoke
Your right. Bhop paced himself and still ran out of gas. He could not handle the pace. He didnt even get hit until he got tired thats why when he got up from the low blow break he was beating Calzaghe like he did the early rounds.
Interesting how it seems that most people had Calz winning it by a bigger margin after rewatching. I didn't have him by that much because a lot of the work he was doing coming in was sloppy, his punches were hitting air a lot of the time, and I preferred the cleaner shots hops was throwing. Calz reminded me a bit of De La Hoya in the Mayweather fight, and even though I thought Mayweather won that fight easily, the Vegas judges gave a lot of credit for Hoya's aggression. Seems that's what won Calzaghe this fight, aggression and workrate tru that, hops was ****ED after 3 rounds :yep thought it was funny as hell when he took the whole 5 mins to get his breath back and then came out beating calzaghe. I reckon if hops got 5 mins rest every round he would of won the fight :hey he started getting hit when he couldn't keep his hands up or move out of the way of the shots. still, not bad for 43
