Philadelphia (July 16, 2014)-- After a successful trip of the United Kingdom, WBO Jr. Middleweight champion Demetrius "Boo Boo" Andrade (21-0, 14 KO's) wants to make it clear that he is the man to beat at 154 pounds and wants Canelo Alvarez and his promoter Oscar De La Hoya to know that he would be interested in facing the Mexican star in a fall bout. "I read some comments that Oscar made to Lara after the fight that there is a line about 10 people deep to fight Canelo and Lara would have to get to the back of it. What Oscar failed to mention is that line forms behind me.", said the undefeated champion. "I am the WBO champion and I am undefeated. As I look down the rankings, I just defeated my mandatory Brian Rose and Alvarez is ranked number-two by the WBO. He will be elevated to number-one and I am ready and willing to fight him for my title. I just hope he would be prepared for the beating I will put on him." Andrade is promoted by Banner Promotions and Joe DeGuardia's Star Boxing.
I like this fight ,it would have to be for a title at 154 and not at 155 which the Canelo Camp has Fawking Made up .
andrade has the worst resume of anyone in line to fight canelo. do you think a resume like his could actually prepare him for canelo? sounds like a loma vs gary russel jr type fight to me.
I could see Andrade outboxing him because of his range, it'd be extremely difficult for Canelo to get inside. I also think Canelo could chin-check Andrade pretty good if given the chance.
It's funny everyone keeps saying " he beats the **** out of Alvarez" people have said that about Trout, they said it about Lara, now they say Cotto will, why do people still not give Canelo credit, Who has Andrade fought? Canelo may have lost to Mayweather but he beat 2 of the best 154 fighters in the world in Trout and Lara he's done far more then Andrade who bar a belt has done nothing to warrant the fight.
He wont fight for the title. He recognizes Mayweather as the 154 champ. Same scenario as Lara fight. I would pick Canelo to win the fight though.
Very true. I'd rather see Andrade taking a real LMW like Molina next, but if he feels comfortable fighting Canelo, Im QUICKLY becoming a fan. I'd like him to honor the rematch with Martyrosyan, but Canelo is a bigger fish and well worth side stepping the come forward banger.:think
