because the ward fight will always be there. he's better off clearing the division and building his legitamacy. then he's better off facing the "names" of his division. this gives him money and leverage in any negotiation.

if he goes to fight ward, its harder for him to go back down anyways. so its best for him to handle his business at 160 and build his brand/name.

this should be obvious to any fight fan.

Simple answer: Chavez is not the #2 P4P Ward.

Because he feels he cant beat Ward and thats fine. hes never fought at 168 so to fight the #2 p4p out of nowhere is a little rough in my eyes.

I see no problem when a fighter knows he cant beat somebody else in a different weight class. If there were the same weight class then theres a problem but GGG is a middle weight. he doesnt need to fight/beat Ward he needs to beat Quillen,Cotto,Canelo.

GGG's trainer you mean? Did they specify a time period? Or did they say they will eventually go to 168.

part of the reason is jcc is easier, bigger cash cow, and at the time had no promotional issues.

Another El Chickeno GGG hype thread. Nice job keeping GGG's name in the public eye. Keep up the good work.

Uh.... maybe he wants his first try at carrying the weight to be against a former middleweight, instead of going right at one of the best p4p fighters in the world in his first time in the weightclass.

    Crazy thought... i know.

    risk-reward.

Ward brings no money and a tough fight.

Chavez brings a lot of money and an easier fight.
