He also lost a lot of fans, and likely any big paydays.

Canelo gave Lara the opportunity to do something big at the biggest stage Lara will ever have, and he decides to run?! :patsch

A few days ago I saw the entire bout on YT. Sheesh, Lara's performance was worse than I thought. He'd back peddle :scaredas: when Canelo looked like he might throw some punches but wasn't even in range. And I hardly ever saw Canelo's head "snap back" :huh Not from those weak jabs that mostly hit air. Some on here where watching the fight they hoped to see, not reality.

The 117-111 score doesn't look that bad. It was competitive and both might have performed better. In any case Lara lost and this was not a "robbery" :deal

Lara did run like a punk......but had he been a little bit more active, I think he could've easily outboxed the mediocre Alvarez. Lara did it to himself.....too bad because I really wanted him to beat the arrogant Alvarez.

I can understand this splitting opinions. IMO Lara won but he did come across as somebody who was scared to engage and I think it was this that lost him the fight.

I've seen criticism of both fighters. Not a good fight.

Lara got lucky that wasnt ruled a knockdown when he jumped out of the ring. His foot landed behind the ropes and his leg buckled when he tried to extend it. That was no slip on water.

If you question if Canelo's body punches hurt, when was the last time someone tried getting SO far away from someone's shots, they jumped outta the ring.

You would think Canelo NOT landing would mean he wouldn't literally RUN across the ring at times.. The body punches kept him away 80% of the fight..Lara would hardly commit to his punches,it seemed he was there to collect a check

There were times when Lara jumped back when Canelo wasn't even in punching range :-( It was ridiculous. Some confuse boxing with hide and seek or catch me of you can :yep

Somewhere in a fight, a few meaningful punches have to be thrown. Especially if you expect to win !
