How can anyone think Eubank is a HOF fighter?

What was the worst Eubnak gift decision? Amaral? Schommer? Sherry? My money's on Amaral. Apparently the criterion that night included Effective Feinting and Solid Missing. The headline on Boxing News is one I'll always remember: Tour De Farce (in reference to his world tour' and the fact that he lost about 10 rounds). Still, that Master of Ceremonies with the fuzzy hair was wheeled out again: "The winner....Simply the best..." and anyone with an idea scratched their head. Even Stretch was outboxing him until he was stopped.

"You can keep your precious glory. Give me some money."

"Do I care about being remembered, in this particular business? Not really. All I care about is how much money is in my bank account."

"I fight to win, and so that's why I won't fight Jones. He can beat me."

Chris Eubank is the VERY LAST person who would ever be inducted into any Boxing Hall of Fame.

when i was young i used to love watching eubank fight but in honesty he was a b level fighter,he ran all night from a c-level fighter in ray close then was beaten twice by a warrior in steve collins.he is no hofer but he did have very good skills but to disregard how beatable he was is plain ignorant.

It's only natural for more fighters to make it in than any other HOF. The sport goes on year round, and at any given time, there's many people fighting professionally than playing in other individual/team sports leagues.

Case in point: In the NFL, there's roughly 1800 players in any given year. If you combined the number of fighters in Heavyweight and Cruiserweight, you'd get more than that without even counting the other classes.

    There were two ways to beat Eubank;

Either 1) stay on top of him for three minutes of each round because he needed breaks to rest and think, or 2) move away from him because he didn't know how to cut off the ring and would fall over himself.

Watson (2nd fight), Thornton, Close (1st and 2nd fights), Amaral, Collins (2nd fight), Calzaghe and Thompson (1st and 2nd fights) all did 1) and beat him clearly.

Sherry and Schommer did 2) and beat him clearly.

Benn (2nd fight) simply used head movement and upper body movement to prevent him throwing or make him miss when he did throw, and I suppose that was kind of like a hybrid mixture of 2) and 1), in that order. He beat him.

But yes, Eubank was beatable ;)

I'll admit that if you stood in front of him, straight up, you could never have beaten him unless he beat himself ie Watson (1st fight), Rocky (Rocchigiani), Benn (1st fight), Collins (1st fight), Thompson early on (1st and 2nd fights). Mikkel Kessler for example wouldn't have done much with Eubank, at all.

He had all the punches, from all the ranges (incl out of range), great reflex and great foot movements.

He was also a bloody strong bugger.

Mike Watson wasn't second-tier. He beat Nigel Benn up pretty good. And he deserved the decision over Eubank in the first fight, which was after Eubank had KO'd Benn too.

At MIDDLEWEIGHT Watson deserved to be 2-0 against UNDEFEATED versions of both men.

And McCallum would have beaten both men too.

As far as British middleweights go, Watson should be ranked above Eubank and Benn.

Watson was a class, class fighter. What he did to Benn was beautiful, perfect.

He cut the ring off non-stop for 11 rounds against Eubank in their 2nd fight and gave him zero time to rest or think after a few rounds, basically just dominating from there.

His timing was off against McCallum from ring-rust (fight was put back six months), he didn't have to cut the ring off because McCallum was in front of him, but he did have to lead off constantly (due to his timing being off) and was never going to better McCallum that way.

Thought Eubank beat Watson in their 1st fight, though I seem the only one who does. Eubank was weightdrained in the fight and lost four or five of the last six rounds. But still did enough.

Also thought Eubank won the 1st Collins fight, though I'm not in a minority there.

Eubank was a granite chined, classy mother****er before the 2nd Watson fight.

Eubank turned into a man who hated Boxing and couldnt give a ****. And I dont blame him.

Disregarding the impact the 2nd Watson fight had on Eubank would be foolish. This just cannot be emphasized enough.

Chris Eubank was an excellent fighter, but after the Michael Watson fight was never really the same.

If you watch the first Benn Eubank fight you will understand how good Chris was in those earlier days.

The only problem with Chris is his resume, other than Benn and a couple of others it ain't all that cracking - not sure about HOF, if Frank Warren can get in, surely Chris can as well!

It depends how you judge his career and the criteria used. Entertainment wise, possibly he deserves to belong. I liked his persona, and he did a lot for the sport, but he is not a true HOF fighter record wise. Eubank should have many more losses on his record, and got many gift decisions.
