Vernon Forrest was killed. I really feel like he was one of the most under appreciated and forgotten boxers of all time. Outside of his two dominant losses to Mayorga, he was the first guy to beat Mosley and he beat the hell out of Mosley. It was at a time that Mosley was seen as an unbeatable guy. Also, people forget he died after reclaiming the WBC title against Sergio Mora, he died a champion.

I truly think he had a unique style that would have given guys like Mayweather or Manny a very difficult fight if not a loss.

How do you think he would fair in his prime with this level of competition?

    Either way RIP to VF

I spoke with Vernon all the time, we were good friends. I helped with Destiny's Child.

I will never forget that day, I was at the gym when we heard the news. Rest In Peace to one of Boxing's true gentlemen, a true sportsman & a dear friend.

Vernon Forrest seemed like a stand up guy. He had a nice text book style and has a phenomenol win over Shane Mosley.

Forrest beat Mosley was one of the best fights in my memory. Mosley was in his prime and he got knocked down for the first time in his life. I was leaping and shouting to see Forrest knocking him out but he couldn't finish him.

    RIP my warrior.

Basically got his jewelry stolen at a gas station. He chased the men and got shot and died.

I wish he just didnt run after them

he stopped at a gas station in atlanta to put air in his tire.
they took his watch, and rings...and he chased after them....as he was tracking down 1 guy, the other shot him in the back several times....like a coward
he had his girlfriends kid with him in the car too

Some people just have to let things go sometimes. He chased after guys with a child in the car to get jewellery, he could rebuy the next day, back. I'm prideful aswell but you gotta choose your battles. Really unfortunate seemed like a great guy and certainly a terrific fighter.

That overhand right, nobody threw it like him, so pretty. If he never had major shoulder problems he would've been an ATG.

RIP Champ, hope you doing something fun up there. Tell Arturo I said what's up.

It's like an animal instinct I think all of us have. The weaker person ran off and instinct kicked in and he gave chase.

huh ? he should had gotten the W in the 2nd fight without question. he won that pretty handily. the first he got caught up in the moment and hit in a perfect spot, he got up and i think he should have been given a chance to continue. that is without question in my eyes..

R.I.P Viper, without the shoulder injury, like someone above said, there isnt ANY WW he couldnt have come out victorious against. not saying he beats everyone, saying he could have

Too bad the scumbags aren't executed for what they did.

Rest in Peace Champ, you will never be forgotten.
