The list is probably longer than just elites, including the likes of Hurricane Carter etc - but the fact that Golovkinn has the amount of power he does along with the amount of skill, that is what makes him so formidable.

Jackson's the only guy I've seen in the last 25 years that carried his power so effortlessly where practically every shot seemed to do real damage.

McClellan and some of the other punchers, you could see the bad intentions in their knockout shots. This made them less effective because of the telegraphing and extra energy they'd expend, but more visually spectacular for the viewer.

Jackson and Golovkin....it's a different kind of monster because the shots in and of themselves don't look nearly as menacing. They're clean and don't have that theatrical quality about them. Then, you see the opponents reaction. Game over.

I firmly believe that if he wasn't as patient and calculating as he is, Golovkin would come off as an even more devastating puncher. It's to his credit that he doesn't neglect defense until he knows the other guy can't hurt him, though. It can't be easy not to fall in love with your power when it's at that level

Golovkin's punches hurt, the are big because of the way he lands them, perhaps Jackson's punches were as powerful, but you can't judge without them all hitting a gauge.............

I think Al Hostak hit like a truck, so nice inclusion there.

To put it in perspective, in Hearns' 8 fights at middleweight, as many fighters lasted the distance with him as in GGG's entire career. And none of the fighters that lasted with GGG were for longer than 8 rounds.

Great list, including the old timers who can fly under the radar at times.

it's not just the power, it's how he can land these punches with ease.

his opponents know he has power on both hands.

how are they not able to avoid them, is what's more impressive.

like i said, first time ive seen a guy who hides his power punches really good.
