Was Golovkin considered a feared puncher through his amateur days? I didn't follow his amateur career at all. I know he had a great record and accomplishments but was he talked about as a big puncher then too or is that something he capitalizes on more in the pro style?
Dont know, but recall hearing how T Hearns wasnt known as a big puncher when amateur, but we know he was as a pro
I don't follow what this means. Could you elaborate? That is exactly who I was thinking about when I started the thread.
Good question. I knew of him as an am and he was certainly aggressive, but I ain't sure that he had a fearsome punchers' reputation (unlike Beterbiev, say, who was known for ending his fights early in the ams).
here he is vs the matrix in the Olympics. I would love to see them fight now that Dirrell is with Haymon. I think Dirrell beats him even though GGG got him in the Olympics. Some think Dirrell won in terms of real boxing though. It would be a great match for sure http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2COIu28PCKA http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VS_bMqjzAaI
No idea, but I don't think Kovalev was given what he said to Don Turner about not knowing if he had enough power to be a successful pro.
