What's wrong with backpeddling? Nothing wrong with boxing on the back foot, not only did he box on the back foot, he dictated the fight.

I was over it when it was announced.

I've tried to make this point before. If you have two counter punchers you have a dull fight. You have to give the guy 'bringing' the fight 'extra credit' otherwise you don't have a fight.

I'm not sure anymore if Bute loses the Clazaghe. He hits harder then B-Hop, is WAY more mobile and throws almost as much as Calzaghe.

It would make for an interesting matchup though.

Useless aggresion is better than no aggresion. This is prizeFIGHTING afterall, not prizefightasleastaspossible. If one fighters throws 20punches and lands 10, another throws 100 and lands 10, both as effective as each other, the aggresor should get it as hes the one doing the fighting and the other avoiding it.

Naw man....his aggression was subbtle. he was landing clean counters on the inside and sometimes with the lead right hand. Hops did plod forward alot but all of that was setting joe up. Sometimes it worked and sometimes Joe knew that Hop was trying to walk him in to a counter. It was a very tactical fight and you could see the chess match from both guys.

I think Roach knew it was close but even when bhop had a great round Roach still gave Hopkins great advice to continue on. Hop was just too old to do all the things his corner wanted him to do.

I see your point but boxing is also about scoring. Though Joe's punches didn't really do any damage to Hopkins you also have to take in to consideration that Hop has a great Chin and there was never a chance at Joe really KOing or Hurting Bhop.

I think Joe knew this deep down and adapted to WIN the fight by overwhelming Bernard with a lot of punches.......even though many didn't land it was the pace that worked Hopkins and ultimatly got Joe the win.

It looked as if Joe was controlling the fight by throwing so many punches....even though Hopkins was never in trouble and never caught by any really CLEAN punches. He was just too inactive agaisnt a VERY active fighter.

Wrong analogy.......JMM was countering Pac at every opportunity, cleanly, clearly, and hard.

JMM never ran from Pac, Hopkins ran from Calzaghe......

JMM never stalled the fight, he fought every second of every round, Hopkins stalled more than he fought!

Hopkins clinched several times per round.....JMM did'nt clinch once the whole fight!

Just a bad analogy my friend, because JMM without running or using any kind of stalling tactics, invited Manny Pacquiao to come to him, and used Pacquiao's aggression against him to counter him OFTEN and at EVERY OPPORTUNITY!

To put it a different way, JMM invited Pac's advancing aggression and was waiting with wide eyes to two fistedly counter his advances.
Hopkins primary goal was to butt, clinch, and what have you, to discourage Calzaghe's aggression (which btw, did not work for Hopkins)

JMM boxed the pants off of Pacquiao......Hopkins used every stalling tactic in the book to try and nullify Calzaghe's aggression!

Bad analogy, the aggressor in the JMM-Pac fight was clearly not only getting outpunched and outboxed, he was getting hit consistently harder.

Bhop has no left hand. He is like a handicapped fighter. He cant throw a left hook. If he had that one punch he would of beat calzaghe. He created the openings and Calzaghe fell in head first every time but Bhop could not do nothing with the left hand but reach out and grab. In his prime, he would throw a decent left hook. Bhop is more upset b/c he knows he would of kicked Calslappy's ass in his prime. You can see Bhop set up joe for the straight right and the left hook but all he could do is grab him and hammer away with the right. Its funny how he was competitive with his limited arsenal of offense.

If they were pitter pat shots, Hopkins would have walked through them and knocked him out

    FFS people get a clue.

if hopkins didn't pull the low blow move in the 10th, he would not have made it to the final bell. :deal
