I'd be sad/angry if he decided to get back into the ring again. Seeing him get stopped by fking Anthony Mundine made me really sad.:|

Out of every fking guy, Anthony Mundine!!

The guy who trolls about Mayweather all the time but isn't anything more than a B level fighter. :-(

Let's hope they retire a bit later. :yep

    Mosley/Marquez/Kessler! :deal

At this point, I honestly do not like his chances against Froch or GGG. I imagine a rubber match with Froch would look much like their second encounter, and I certainly do not like the prospects of Kessler attempting to move down to 160. I think that move would prove disastrous.

    Yeah, that's probably all true.

Roy/Toney/Mosley/Martinez/Froch/Mayweather/Pac/Marquez/Wlad could ALL be done by then.

I'm not optimistic about Kesslers' chances. Darnit

People who think Golovkin is more dangerous - are you basing that just on supposition that cutting weight is likely to be detrimental to Kessler? (which he seems to not feel worried about himself, and he would know better than us whether 160lbs feels reachable...)

The following will sound like a bunch of the usual anti-Golovkin rhetoric, but rest assured I like Golovkin...

    • His power is legit, but so far most of his kayos have still come against guys who made their bones at middle, or, even more prevalently, light middle or welter. Kessler is a career super middle with an iron chin.

    • Kessler has three inches of height and four inches of reach on Golovkin, and is only a few years older. He also has only had 96 matches, combined am/pro - as compared with Golovkin's 380. (of course I realize the amateurs boast shorter # of rounds, and produce less wear and tear anyway on account of the headgear and bigger gloves - but still, point is, both have boxed since their early teens).

    • In the pros, Kessler has the far better resume and more experience mixing at the highest echelon.

Yes, one is prime and the other is well past it and sporting a bum eyeball, yet I think it might be putting the horse ahead of the cart to say Golovkin is more dangerous than Froch unless we are simply assuming (based on nothing except guesswork, or anecdotal evidence of it going badly for others making late-career drops) that making 160lbs would severely hamper Kessler.

Ah yeah, Pong and Cotto probably do have to go in ahead of Kessler should it come down to it. (and certainly Jones and Toney long before either of them)

    Martinez, absolutely not.

    Mostly.

Put it this way - at 168 I view Kessler's chances as significantly more favorable (though I would still personally favor GGG to win at this stage - Kessler has slipped a bit too much and is loaded with all sorts of wear and tear).

Froch, Chavez, Cotto and Kessler only want Mega-buck PPV potential bouts, and they have all earned it.
That being said, Golovkin does not fit into that equation for either of them so you can stop adding him into a match up with either of them.
DeGale only enters into the equation with Froch because like Groves it would be a big event in England. Otherwise, Kessler wants Froch, Froch wants Chavez, and Chavez wants either Froch or Cotto.

Sounds like you think Kessler is a shoe-in for the HOF... and that only bad timing would prevent him from getting in the first year he becomes eligible. I'm not sure, I subscribe to this idea!

While he has had a great career, he has only been in 4 really big fights (Calzaghe, Ward, Froch x 2)... and he lost 3 of those! Winning world titles from the likes of Siaca, Sartison and Magee won't impress anyone on the selection committee, I'm afraid. To be honest, I don't see him getting in the first year... or any year for that matter! Well, if he beats Ward or Froch in the one fight he has left, he should (and probably would) get in... but that isn't likely to happen.

He's most likely fighting Froch or Ward again. Can't see him being able to move down to 160.

So he's not ranked by any of the four bodys ;)

But why not fighting Abraham first and getting the WBO belt, both are wits Sauerland and Kessler/Abraham was highly expected few years ago, a match everybody wanted to see before the super six started :deal

agree with 'intentional butt' - Kessler deserved the nod in the first fight
so "the point" of a third fight would be....:good

It was Kessler himself who mentioned GGG though, but I can kinda agree it's odd as it wouldn't come close to making as much $s as a Froch rubber or JCC jr fight.

As IB pointed out at the start, Kessler has identified 3 potential opponents - Froch, Ward and Golovkin, though with Ward still (apparently) tied up with Goosen that doesn't look particularly likely.

And as for Chavez having earned Mega-buck bouts.. hmm - well. Not so sure about that, though doubtless he can get them.

At this point Kessler would lose to Ward, Froch, or Golovkin.

He may still have enough to edge out Chavez Junior (due to Junior's lack of focus)
