I'd of thought he might of taken a slightly longer break but I guess he isn't that young so time is moving on for him as a boxer . I can't see him ever being a world champion again although with all the belts around these days who knows

Good to see him back soon. Rare these days, and somewhat a relief with some of the people that take the money and then wait so long...not naming any names, but many are guilty.

Think there's been a change of plan. Now out in either Leeds or London in October :-(

I see no problems with moving the fight back for a couple of months if they think he needs more time to get comfortable at the weight or working on things in the gym. It is going to be a hard slog for him to get back so Ricky cannot afford another slip up by fighting just for the sake of getting back into the ring.

On Ringside Jim Watt (hardly reliable I know) said there were rumours he was struggling to make the Lightweight limit in his last couple of bouts and that could have lead to his lacklustre displays. Be interesting to hear off Billy if this was the case.

Standard excuse when you get outclassed and lose.

Ricky made weight very comfortably for his fight with Crawford, although obviously I don't know how his camp went for his last fight, me personally he should stay at LW

There searching for the reason he has went downhill, its not a weight issue, it is mental more than any other single thing since his jaw got broke. He needs a sports psychologist. Billy did Ricky go and see anyone like this after Beltran fight?

Thanks Billy, I thought as much. He's always looked good for the weight to me. Personally I don't think I'd give up on LW just yet. Even at domestic level, there's a few tasty opponents who would sell.

I think the layoff after the Vasquez debacle took the rhythm out of his career and coupled with Gonzalez proving trickier than he imagined his confidence got sapped too. He didnt seem himself in the opening rounds v Beltran and then the jaw break was obviously a limiting factor in the rest of the fight...all leading to a disjointed build up to Crawford. Confidence is paramount in boxing and its clearly left him when he enters the ring i think.

One thing that always confuses and frustrates me about Ricky is the "I don't watch tapes of my opponent " line. Might footage have been available of the wee Montanagran throwing wild overhands? Ooft. "I take a couple of rounds to work out my opponent" oooft. Can it ever be the best tactic not to watch tapes of your opponent before a fight? I know Ricky likes to leave it to his trainer and expect the trainer to work on tactics to negate what the intended opponent is good at. Did Ricky just totally ignore instructions in the last fight?
