I heard from G.Montoya that Nevada only started testing for Steroids in 2002.

Does that mean that you can question the accomplishments of every athlete prior to this????

is the current generation of boxers the best of all time?

Gabriel Montaya told me on twitter that Nevada only started testing in 2002 meaning every other state would have started later!!!!!!

no wonder you had a golden era of fighting in US!!!

its true, Jones was the 1st of the golden generation to be busted. 2002 coincided with the decline of the American heavyweight.

Many American fighters today look to avoid testing and many American promoters make this possible.

Holyfield, Mosley, Jones, Toney, Tarver was just the tip of the iceberg.

You could question the "cleanliness" of every boxer that's ever stepped in the ring.

Boxers doing any and everything to get an edge has been around since the sport began.

What's changed is our attitudes about it. 75-100-120 years ago, a guy doing whatever he could to win in any sport made him crafty, wily, and it was accepted that it was an arms race. Fan attitudes have changed over the past few decades. Athlete behavior has not, and that's why records keep on getting broken and guys keep on getting bigger, faster, and stronger.

Steroids have been around for over 50 years. Do people honestly think they just got into boxing in the last 10? Amphetamines and/or other uppers have been used for over 100 years now. It used to be orange juice, brandy, and strychnine.

The whole notion of clean boxing is a myth. It's fun to think your favorite era of boxing was the clean one, and go right ahead. It's just wishful thinking that that's how it played out in reality.

Even when they started testing they still allowed elevated testosterone levels which can only be caused by steroids. Nothing's changed you just cant juice as much.

They should stop testing for drugs.

How many injections would Richard Frazier have had to get in order to be competitive with Roy Jones Jr? If he would have gotten them and would have given Roy a better fight then wouldn't fight fans have gotten more for their money?

Fact is that Richard Frazier could have snorted coke for 5 weeks straight and injected himself with the entire inventory of a pharmacy and he still wouldn't have won VS Roy.

Another fact is that probably all of the greatest fights that we could list have been brought to us courtesy of steroid use. Lets say that Foreman wanted to come back tomorrow and slug it out VS Wladimir, would it be all that unfair if Foreman used a bit of HGH to negate Wladimirs age advantage?

Then there's the question about a fighters health and all that. People **** themselves up in all sorts of ways, it's very hypocritical to be against PED use due to the health risks associated with using them. Why not test cops, plumbers, judges, lawyers, grocery store clerks, carpenters etc for those ped's if we're going to worry so much about everyone's health.

I can imagine the cheaters back then. But we've never had to take tests before why are we doing it now? Innocent until proven guilty.
