froch vs golovkin must happen

Golovkin said Saturday he wants unification fights, speaking about Cotto or Quillin as potential opponents. Golovkin obviously wants to clean up the MW division so I do not see a Ward fight anytime soon and by the time Golovkin does step up a weight I believe Froch will have retired.

But if and when Golovkin does move up it will be Golovkin Vs Ward everybody will want to see.

On the UK side of things DeGale, Groves and maybe even the likes of Callum Smith could be possible opponents for GGG.

Wait...you're the guy who started a new thread literally SECONDS after Groves was stopped in the rematch. Claiming it was just a lucky punch.

GGG v Froch doesn't have to happen at all.

Froch has fought the best around for years on end, he's at the tail end of his career and want's big money spinner fights e.g. Chavez in Vegas. He doesn't 'have' to fight anyone, he's proved his worth (going off the basis of modern boxing...)

GGG has never even fought up at SMW + still has big fights to solidify himself at MW. He's hardly put together a monster resume at MW has he... which I know isn't completely his fault.

Either way, I rate GGG big time but if I had to put money on it.. at 168 I'd be backing Froch. Can't call it English bias either as I'm a Groves backer!

If you were Carl Froch, with 2 or 3 fights left would you...

A) Fight Chavez Jnr in Vegas, with a huge Mexican PPV audience tuning in. A money spinning and very winnable fight, or

B) Fight Golovkin, not on PPV, make far less money in a fight which could end up being his last.

Froch, whatever you think of him, deserves to dictate the terms now. Golovkin, much as I'd love to see the fight as a fan, makes no commercial sense now compared to Chavez or even Kessler 3. And GGG needs to fight a name or two at SMW first.

 

Wont happen. Froch's too busy beating second rate chancers like shot Kessler and that young buck Groves by the skin of his teeth. We all saw what happened the minute he stepped up against an actual elite operator, lost by a shut out on a fair card.

I've watched Froch for years I know exactly how good his chin. I remember watching the first Groves fight and hating it, not just because my favourite fighter was losing but because he was taking a lot of really hurtful, heavy shots and it was brutal. Your punch resistance can be knocked out of you and Froch has had a long career, didn't say this had happened but it's possible.

 

Two fights out there for Carl
1. GGG
2. Ward

Neither will happen because both are far more dangerous than Chavez Jnr imo

 

People like Daniel Geale and Matthew Macklin might be considered world class at middleweight, but let's be realistic, a career welterweight holds a title. Geale holding a title doesnt automatically make you world class. It's a weak division, and Golovkin does move up, he's not just moving up in weight, he's moving up into a strong division with 2 top 10 p4p fighters in it.

IMO he hasn't been in with real world class opposition, but I'm not criticising him. He's looked phenomenal in all his fights but taking on Froch would answer a lot of questions about both fighters, one on the way out of the sport, and one on the rise. Which is why I say it's 50/50.

 

Geale and Macklin are no worse than shot Kessler, shot Glen Johnson, young Buck Groves, Yusef Mack etc...

I find the historical revisionism of Carl Froch's "elite" cv astounding.

 

You must not enjoy watching any British boxer then you miserable git - must think they're all ****. I guess the last fight you enjoyed was Lewis/Klitschko in 2002 or whenever it was.

 

I actually do enjoy watching non elite level fighters like Froch fighting against opponents who have a similar technical level to himself. I'm a fan of his, but I'm not a clown who feels the need to rewrite history in order to make "one of our boys" seem like an ATG. Let's see how Froch does in a rematch with Ward or against this boy Golovkin before we pathetically and embarrassingly hail him as a HOF fighter to quench our thirst for another elite fighter.

 

You cannot say middleweight is a good division and i would say super middle is in the top 3 toughest divisions. Wasn't making a case for or against Froch or his CV, I was saying Golovkin would be not only moving up a weight which is a challenge, but moving into a much stronger division also.
