GGG vs Kovalev

the demolition job he did on Nathan cleverly was a combonation of scuffed shots, the destruction of Sillakh was short Right on the temple followed by a scuffed left, when he rised it was simply dinner on the plate. When the beat down of Cedric ensued he couldnt land flush shots due to Agnews nice high guard until he hit him with a straight left that floored him, and a straight left jab to the rib that dismantled him.

also GGG is getting hit more often than Sergey Krusher Kovalev, shows underated defence from the Krusher.

 

Golovkin is a bigger puncher than Kovalev and is more talented fighter. Obviously I don't expect Golovkin to jump two divisions to fight Kovalev. However, Sanchez did say that Kovalev was scared of Golovkin when they sparred. They are only a year a part in age, and I don't see Kovalev moving up anytime soon. This is a possible matchup in a few years.

Whether he is or he isn't, he still said it and Golovkin never disputed it. So they obviously must feel that Golovkin can beat Kovalev.

Golovkin is a 160 lb. fighter like Hagler was, Kovalev is 175. They will never fight. Why doesn't Ward fight Stevenson at 168? Why did Ward say that Kovalev is too big for him and why did Ward say he would easily beat Klitschkos, yet refused to sign a contract?

 

Question to Kovalev: "GGG's power is real/overrated/a myth?"

Kovalev:
"Not a myth. He hits even maybe not like a lightheavy but a heavy, I can't say for sure. Gena hits strong, quick and with a snap. I can't say how to compare power of a middle/supermiddle/heavy but when he lands his shots on you, you feel damage on your body. In sparrings with him your self defense mechinism starts working at 100% and you get cautious and attentive.
Off course when I came back from Russia untrained I could not work with him at 100% but later when I gained my form we had pretty good sparring sessions where we hit each other like mules, anything could happen in those sessions, I got hit, he got hit. That's it "

To me it's a 50/50 fight: GGG is a more seasoned and skilled boxer puncher, while Krusher is bigger and overall stronger dude. Very much depends on mentality of the fighters. It's not a secret that both crash their opponents mentally, they are just very confident of themselves and by the end of the 1 round we all know who is a Hunter and who is a deer. That being said, Kovalev seems to always look UP to GGG as his older brother and gives too much of a respect, especially considering his very cold temper. So I think mentally GGG is above Kovalev in their personal bout, and this is a big advantage.

Another important variable is in what physical form each of them will be on a fight night.

 

One of the best modern seasoned boxers-punchers in the game today looking clearly up to the future against a heavy handed dummy. I say Golovkin beats him and possibly stops him.

 

Kovalev himself says that GGG have him all kinds of trouble in sparring and that he had to be at his absolute best to spar him, and even then it was 50/50

Yet these GGG haters say Kovalev destroys him easily lol
