You may remember way back in 2008, Joe Calzaghe ate up Bernard Hopkins and spat him out. Hopkins has set his sights on Adonis Stevenson- who will be schooled by The Executioner, maybe even knocked out. Yet according to you Calzaghe haters he was shot when he stepped into the squared circle with The Fighting Pride of Newbridge Wales :huh What's your excuses gonna be when Hopkins schools Stevenson? He was green when he fought Calzaghe?
Calzaghe faced Jermain Taylors Leftovers!!! ROFL and Taylor at leasy beat him twice!!! ROFL\ Oh and FROCH whooped Taylor Froch greater than Slap happy Joe???
He didn't do that to Bernard, it was a close fight, could have gone either way really, don't make it out like Calzaghe schooled him or something.
Calzaghe had Hopkins pulling a crybaby face and trying to quit. No respectable person thought Hopkins won that fight.
Hopkins is a great win for Calzaghe. Probably his only great win. Kessler is a very good win and then it falls off a bit. Hopkins has problems with high volume punchers. He lost to Taylor just as convincingly as he did to Calzaghe. Hopkins fought everyone which is why he has lost some close ones. Joe didn't fight anywhere near the competition that Hopkins has and is still fighting. Sad that some weirdos try to somehow give credit to Calzaghe every time Hopkins does something impressive. If Joe beat Kovalev and Stevenson in the same way that you think Hopkins will, those would be his 2nd and 3rd best wins. I am not sure if you are ever being serious.
Stevenson and Kovalev would be Lacyed by Super Joe then everyone would say they was crap all along (although they'd be right about Stevenson- there is at least 6 fighters between 168-175 who would make Adonis look like he doesn't belong in the same ring as them).
I imagine it bothers you that Hopkins and his accomplishments are going to be remembered in 100 years and the hardcore fans will be the only people that remember "Super Joe" and even they will probably only know him as a guy that beat Hopkins in a close one. That appears to the motivation behind these threads.
Sometimes you actually post some pretty good threads, but **** like this is what turns normal, rational posters off the forum. Haven't you had enough of posting about Calzaghe and his greatness?
Wrong, the motivation behind these threads is to exposed the deluded internet pedos who claim Joe only beat Hopkins because Hopkins was shot- Joe beat Hopkins despite the fact Joe himself was shot.
Plus glass jawed Taylor stayed on his feet the whole fight and was never hurt, while Calzaghe, who's deluded fans claim has an iron chin, was dropped hard in the first round and badly hurt every time Hopkins landed a right hand. And to the OP - no, Hopkins won't beat Kovalev, this is a bridge to far the old man. But Hopkins is a true fighter and real warrior who will take on anybody and this fight makes a mockery of Calzaghe's knuckle dragging fan base who claim Hopkins ducked their hero back in 2001. If that fight had happened prime Hopkins would have schooled Calzaghe.
Probably the best anyone has ever done against Hopkins, except maybe Prime Roy. Great fight. BHop just couldn't handle the pace and I felt bad for him in the later rounds when he was looking to stall and trying to make excuses to get a rest. Both are favorite fighters of mine. The fight does help to put into perspective how much ability Calzaghe had. And that Hopkins would fight anyone.
