Some posters say it was a trip, but technically, Kovalev got knocked down by a guy with 6 KOs...:think
It was a trip....Which commonly happens between Southpaw and Orthodox fighters when their feet get tangled up.. He wasn't hurt in the slightest by that punch (a "glass" chin means he can't take punches and gets hurt easily) clearly this "knockdown" was an off balance issue due to tangling of the feet that happens all the time between Southpaw and Orthodox fighters....Not an inability to take a punch issue like with Khan.....He wasn't rocked at all.... Kovalev beats Hopkins, but Stevenson beats both Kovalev and Hopkins (unpopular opinion, but true).....Both Hopkins and Kovalev are more vulnerable to Southpaws....And both would get cracked by that straight left of Stevenson all night....
it was a trip. Max says he didnt like the call but kovalev was hit before he fell and honestly it was good punch.
I sincerely admire the fact that you've voiced out your unpopular opinion...I agree with you when you say that Kovalev is vulnerable to Stevenson's straight left.. However, having said that, I think that the deciding factor if Kovalev and Stevenson do fight is that Sergey has a higher chance of taking Adonis' shots in comparison to the other way around..
Hopkins is vulnerable to southpaws got to laugh at that. Hopkins was once known as the south paw slayer and was 12-0 vs. South paws. Beat a lot if good south paws including Tarver and Wright, gave Calzaghe a really hard fight and lost to Dawson. I do not believe he struggles against that stance.
I meant as of late...He looked very bad/awkward against Dawson in their 2 fights....And he lost clearly to Joe...He's even said in several interviews that he doesn't like fighting Southpaws.... Hopkins would get cracked hard by Adonis...Could he survive an early blitzkrieg like Fonfara did?? Sure but he may not survive it at age 50...
Whoever considers it a slip is an idiot. He was caught clean backing off and it knocked him down, simple. No his chin isn't weak by any means, at least not based on that knockdown, because the punch caught him in a bad position.
Kovalev may/may not have a weak chin....I just don't think you can say anything about this recent knockdown since it was clearly a foot stepping that caused it and he wasn't hurt at all......He wasn't rocked at all which is what having a "bad chin" means.... That being said I think Stevenson dominates early on, but if Sergey can get him into the later rounds he can win.....Stevenson is extremely dangerous in the early rounds....
Kovalev clearly doesn't have the greatest set of whiskers, but it remains to be seen whether his mandibular vulnerability will derail him at the highest levels of the sport.
I see a lot of people do some explaining or just Shutting the FU like when Stevenson fought Fonfara. Maybe they found out that everything that shines may not be gold. I personally will do a lot of personal trashing and despizing on Kovalev fans until they write themselves off when the occasion presents itself.
Nah, he probably can take a punch as well as Hopkins. You can drop him but that doesnt mean that he will stay down or be that hurt. Its funny how Ward gets so much **** for getting dropped by Boone yet Boone also dropped Kovalev and he KTFO Stevenson.
