howdy lads, new to the forum. Irish and proud.

any word if andy lee is getting a rematch yet, i like andy lee but i still think hes 2 years off of fighting Pavlik.still not sure if Don Turner is the right man for Big John Duddy.

Bernard Dunne?cant get my head around him, i personally think its doubtful he will ever get beyond european level, altough him getting KO`d was coming imo, hopefully he wises up now and goes on to prove me wrong, it could be the best thing to happen to him.

Hello, fresh meat[as Andy Lee would say], we're normally a peacful wee bunch in here, but there was a ruck about flags or whatever last night, i hope that's the end of it [although I see where fra is coming from, but it's pointless going on about it].I agree with you on the Don Turner comment, a move to Buddy McGirt or Roach would be a good move for Duddy.:good

"still not sure if Don Turner is the right man for Big John Duddy."

Been wonderin that myself. Don turner is the third trainer that Duddy has had since coming over to the states. Turner seems soooo low key. I was thinkin,It would be something to see Wayne McCollough in John's corner, But he is based out in Vegas, that would be a big move.

Anyway in the Smichet fight, in between getting clobbered with big right hands(forget which round) It looks like Duddy hurt him just a bit, but doesn't follow up. (the scottish color commentator,James Watt? "...This is what Duddy is so good at.")

So what's my point... Well two quotes from Don Turner were about
(paraphrase) 'It's my job to get him not to get hit so much.'
He also mentioned getting John to throw more combinations especially when he is in a position to finish someone off. I dunno, maybe he is the right guy. He also said in one of the you tube videos, "I know He's got champion in him"

Let's just hope that John can really build on his experience with Smichet. When you learn lessons the hard way, like that, they can really stick with ya!:good

Grow up you *****, stop getting the hump over a flag beside someones top ten list you ****ing zealot. So Neil Sinclair should have a tricolour next to his name? I find that disrespectful. Any decision over flags was going to be controversial.

This is the best thread on esb but has been pathetic over the past day with religion and ignorant comments coming into it

Slapbangwallop has done a good job at getting irish boxing onto wikipedia which is a very useful source of information, particuarily for people new to the sport. Thats a much greater contribution than you usual bum licking and agressive outbursts. Just because members of your family (not you) did time, does not mean you can blow out at another member like you did.

Yes Fra, more irish than me mate, I was born in New Zealand!

Have an irish heart though mate, and proud of the Tricolor flag on the wall in my gym. I'm going to fly one on the outside entrance when I get round to it. Boxing folk in NZ think of me as IRISH and PROUD!

Right lads, can we please draw a line under the flag furore.Making provocative comments wont solve anything, whether its fra abusing Slapbangwallop, or Hightower calling fra a zealot, it's negative nonsense we can do without.I feel partly to blame for raising the issue to begin with. This thread is about Irish boxing, so lets keep it like that. And Hightower, but mostly fra, I'm aiming this remark at, we can all be guilty of over reacting, and maybe saying things we regret later, so that's just move on.:good

He moved over to England to turn pro, but I don't think his career really took off. I don't know if it was a lack of ability in the pro game, or other things going on.

Have you ever seen the documentary about him called Southpaw? If you haven't you should give it a look, it painted Fracie in a great light.
