Looks like Povetkin will face Takam on 10-24 in Moscow. The WBC Silver title will be on the line. Farce title aside, this is a good heavyweight match up. Povetkin is one of the 2-3 best heavies in the division and Takam has been on a role and probably cracked the top 10 himself. I'd take Povetkin by decision if it does happen.
This is a top-shelf fight that I'll be looking forward to seeing. I think Povetkin wins, by UD or a very late stoppage, but not before getting pushed hard by Takam.
Oh wow. This is an amazing fight, I am surprised. Could this be a sign that top heavies will finally start fighting each other?
Takam looked bad vs Thompson in his last fight. He needs to work on his stamina. I think Povetkin will defeat him.
This fight will be a must-watch. I hope Povetkin can maintain the conditioning he had versus Charr. If he does he'll put Tackam away. Too fast, precise and powerful.
Farce title aside???? This is better than Arreola vs Stiverne for the vacant WBC REAL title.:rofl:rofl:rofl
Yeah, Povetkin and Takam are a more deserving pair of fighters than Stiverne and Arreola were, not by a large margin though. The thing I don't like is that Povetkin and Takam each fought about a month after Stiverne-Arreola. Now they both are scheduled to face each other and still no definitive word on when/if Stiveren-Wilder happens.
Takam looked very decent in the Thompson fight. From beginning until the end he was beating the **** out of the Tiger. His stamina was very good, everybody expected he would gas in mid rounds, but he didnt. Underrated contender!
Well, word got out about a month or so ago that Stiverne injured a tendon in his L hand and would need a few months rest before he could begin training. And it was about that time that Wilder began looking for a "quick" turn around/stay busy fight. Mike Sheppard was chosen over Darnell Wilson, and word is 50K for Sheppard.....so I HIGHLY doubt Ding was passed over b/c he was overpriced.:rofl Pretty certain we all know why he was turned down for it. That said, Wilder's gotten right to work, sadly the opponent isnt the type we'd classify as a test, or the type we'd consider a legit threat to end the hype, but in Deontays defense, there's a lot riding on this, and the risk/reward just isnt there to look real hard for the perfect opponent. Now, like your'e OP suggested.....yeah, the HWs are beginning to fight one another on a more frequent basis, and we can expect more of it with Chagaev holding Potvekins old belt. But really, with Vitali retiring, and a "legit" belt up for grabs, not attached ot a Klitschko, you had to see it coming. Wlad's choice of opponent is gonna get thinner as long as that WBC belt gets tossed around.:think Hell, even Fury has made it clear he'll be going that direction rather than "so called" chasing Wladimir.:-(
Nice fight! Takam is being rewarded for his excellent run of form this year (draw with Perez that some felt he won, and the perhaps even more impressive clear victory over TTT. Meanwhile, this is as credible an opponent for Povetkin as is available for really any top contender - a shitload better than anyone Pulev, Fury, Glazkov, Chisora, or even Stiverne have fought in the last year. Everybody wins, including the fans. Styles ought to mesh well.
good fight takam deserved. i felt he coulda got the nod vs perez. but i still think povetkin can beat him
