Lee will pose far more problems for Cotto than he would have for GGG. I would not be all that surprised if he beats Cotto.

Sadly the only people in boxing that Andy is capable of causing problems for these days are those of us who are actually on his side and want him to quit boxing for good!

I have no problem with this fight. Cotto has no business at 160 to begin with. Lee isn't elite but he isn't some bum either.

Cotto isn't that good at 154lbs and surely isn't a 160lb champ is he? Beating a 40yr old overrated injured Sergio isn't much. Cotto is way to battered and slow for the GGG's and the Quillan's. Cotto could beat Sam Slop Soliman though. jacobs beats Cotto as does Canelo at any weight. But Andy weak lee is a joke.

Though you sound frustrated...can't set a new bar.

If one doesn't unify title he must relinquish his belt!!!

If that's the case then we need to start with the male nurse
    Mayweather!!!

Mayweather should totally relinquish his 154 lb belt. It's a joke he can defend it at welterweight.

The only upshot to this scenario is if the trend of defending titles at weights below their actual limit continues so, eventually, Ali Raymi can be the champion at every class up to Middleweight without having to gain a pound.

You defend the fight by saying Lee is a top 10 opponent (top 10 by who? not by most fans and not by ring mag) and then say G needs to EARN his shot in the same post  Youre going on a break, its either dense stupidity or blatant trolling... either way youve been due for a break for quite awhile now. See you when you return.

Andy Weak Lee isn't a top 20 fighter. Andy is more a weak sap than anything.

    ******ED OP.....

Andy Lee is an OK defense if there are NOT BETTER oppnents available.

Same with Adama, same with Macklin, same with Stevens, etc etc etc.

Right now, Cotto could have ANY fighter in the division. NOBODY would turn down a fight.

He could start with #1, GGG and he wouldnt have to make a second call. But say GGG broke a hand in sparring.....Miquel could go to Quillin or Soliman, and if they didnt have a fight, OFFICIAL, date, venue, everything.....they'd drop what they were working on, and SIGN with Cotto.

For GGG it was a matter of starting with Martinez, going thru Quillin, Sturm, Barker, Geale, Kirkland, Chavez Jr, and probably a handful of others before finally saying Lee was a possibility.

Don't pretend there was a better fight ABLE to be MADE.:nono

Lee is a good opponent.....it's not a GGG super fight but I'm interested in seeing Miguel after one of his biggest wins of his career and as a middleweight champion. They have time to build a super fight with Golovkin. His stock hasn't peaked.....so they could be letting this fight simmer for a showdown later.
