castilo and oscar beat him ..............same way pac beat bradley in the first fight but brad got the official win........
Pac won't fight him above 150. Pac wanted Mosley at 143. I feel sorry for you guys, great wins overshadowed by severe catchweights. The ONLY one I don't take away from him is the Cotto win, I don't think Cotto was drained. Weaker, but not drained.
Castillo. I thought the first fight was a draw, so I can see why people would argue that Castillo won. I can also see why people argue that Mayweather won. I think it was the kind of fight that could have gone either way. De La Hoya didn't do as well as Castillo, but he did a decent job. If he had better stamina, it would have been much more interesting. He faded in the second half of the fight and Mayweather took advantage of that. Despite that, De La Hoya's performance here might actually be underrated -- he does a surprisingly good job of parrying and evading Mayweather's punches, especially when he's fresh. He missed a lot when he attacked, but those flurries were useful for stealing close rounds, and future opponents of Mayweather could take note of that strategy. I don't think Mayweather's other opponents came close to actually beating him, although some did manage to trouble him in places, like Cotto. The Judah match deserves a mention as being an interesting case. Even though Mayweather dominated him in the second half of the match, it's possible to argue that Judah won all of the first four rounds (although from what I recall, I think Mayweather probably won at least one of them) and Judah may have also won the last round, because Mayweather pretty much gave it away. If you add on the extra point that Judah deserves for the knockdown that the referee missed, then he did surprisingly well on the scorecards. A shame that he resorted to that terrible foul near the end.
Good post. I thought zab did very well early. If he had any discipline, potentially, he might have won.
any of the top 147/154 fighters probably could beat him IF they had a level playing field. but that's never going to happen with Floydatsch
The closes I've felt a fighter came to beating Mayweather is Maidana I had it a draw fight night but can see up to 9-3 Floyd if you give him the close rds. The Castillo fights I score inline with the judge's and I have always scored the May-JLC II closer than 1, I gave Oscar /Cotto 3rds and can see 4 for Canelo. Out of today's fighters I'd give a guy like Andreade a chance at 154 based on size alone, outside of that maybe a couple MW's saying that though Mayweather is 37/8 so age could catch up at any time.
