Fox Sports 1: James Stevenson vs Samuel Vasquez RBR

IB's riding with the ESPN card, so I guess I'll start the RBR for this one.

Currently up...Monty Meza Clay vs Alan Herrera.

Through three...Clay's been surging forward, whipping right hands at his opponent's head and landing harder and with more frequency in the first and third. Herrera's held his own, through, ripping hooks downstairs and combos at the head...and doing enough good work to win the second.

29-28 Clay.

Good stuff.

 

Round 4: Bookend round with Clay doing good work to the body early, driving rights to the gut of his retreating foe, before Herrera comes back in the middle with a couple of sharp uppercuts. But Clay scores well with a couple of hard rights near the end to take it.

39-37 Clay.

 

Round 5: The taller Herrera controls the pace with the jab and some nice side to side movement, landing a little more than his foe, who continues to churn forward but isn't quite as effective as in previous rounds.

10-9 Herrera

Round 6:

Clay tries to make up for the last round and does so in a big way with a right hand followed by a left hook that DROPS Herrera onto the seat of his trunks near the ropes! Herrera up and fires back, backing up Clay with a series of combos and driving him to the ropes! NASTY exchange at the end of the round!

10-8 Clay

Round 7: Pretty much non-stop trading from start to finish. Clay seems a bit tired and his work is getting a bit ragged, and Herrera has him backing up near the end of the round.

10-9 Herrera

67-65 Clay

 

Round: Picking up where we left off. Clay works a few uppercuts, but Herrera keeps ripping combos downstairs and backing his foe up. But in the final minute, Clay comes back in a big way, with a right hand that cuts Alan, followed by stiff jab that rocks his foe's head back on his shoulders and another right that wobbles Herrera!

Awesome indeed!
