Salka was so bad that the boxing org. did not even allow that fight to be for the title. Shame on Showtime for showing such a mismatch.................
It was not for the title because the fight was contested above the weight limit. (142 lbs) DSG was having trouble making the weight and it was interesting how Showtime paraded him around as the champion even though he can't make that weight anymore. It seems that many people seem to be overlooking the main reason for this fight and his struggles vs Herrera. (not to take anything away from Herrera I thought he won, but DSG had to starve himself to make weight) I have a suspicion that this weight issue could derail DSG's career, because I think he had a good situation at 140 but he's just not able to comfortably make that weight and I don't think he matches up as well vs the top guys at welter. We keep hearing about how this is going to set up a fight with Floyd at 147, but is there any truth to that? I think it would be interesting to see how DSG matches up vs other welters if he intends on moving up to 147. I doubt he will be able to get big fights at a 142 catch weight. He will be giving away a lot of size if he is to go to 147, maybe a match with Broner could be a good first fight at welter.
