Analysing the fight between Brook and Porter and trying to figure out if his power has been hyped up... he has 1 stoppage in his last 6 fights and that has potentially been glorified because it was Paulie. There is no doubting he is physically a beast, but could it be a case of Paulie's chin cracking after taking years of big shots off some of the best in the game? Thoughts?
Porter's power is being vastly overrated, I've said this a few times already, Paulie was a knockout waiting to happen, his stance left him open to all of Porter's hooking shots, when Porter caught Paulie repeatedly it was hyperextending his neck, and nobody can take too many shots like that without going down. Paulie was tailor made for Shawn nothing more.
Porters power has come from peds. He was pillow fisted before taking Conte on board. Brook on the overhand has stopped 17 of his last 20. The 3 guys he didn't was Jones who he stopped in a rematch, Matthew Hatton and Lovemore N'dou who Canelo dragged to 154 and couldn't hurt them as much as Special K did.
Better go for Brook's nose. Swallowing all that blood didn't help him against Carson Jones. Senchenko did catch him with a good shot on the chin though.
Porter's power is misleading, he dives a lot and could't knock the skin off a rice-pudding before he had some of "Conte's magic shakes"
I reckon Porter is getting KTFO..He's a short dude and reaches a lot Brook just needs to time the kid coming in.
I don't think his power is over-rated. I think he's improved his power in his last 2 fights and now possess more power than his KO% suggests. Brook doesn't appear to have a great chin but maybe has just as match power as Porter if not more so I can't see it going to the cards
I think Porters lack of ko's on his cv is more to do with him punching with poor technique than lack of physical power. As he gets more experienced, learns more, becomes less crude etc the kos will come. So yes he is a ko threat to KB. But s is KB to him.
