Just the best overall you have seen whether on film or in person. If you could pick the 5 fighters who impressed you the most in history,
    who would they be?

I mentioned Monzon on another thread, so he is in there Along with Ezzard, Armstrong, Langford(ahead of his time and Joe Louis. Though there are plenty of exceptions, i tend to be drawn more toward the type of fighter that patiently and methodically imposes his will. Slowly breaking away his opponent, not a lot of flash, dancing, or explosive in and out movement with combinations. Again, plenty of exceptions, but that's just what I like.

Good list rib! Let me add mine:

Pep did things in the ring I've seen no other fighter touch.
Louis short explosive combinations add him to the list.
Robinson simply was the best overall.
Duran at lightweight was a monster.
Bob Foster in his prime was the light heavyweight ko king.

People sometimes choose distinguish between 'fighters' and 'boxers' and I'm not sure whether you intended this or not but my all-time top 5 list of boxers/fighters would be:

    Jones
    SRL
    Mayweather
    Louis
    SRR

To be honest, I started the thread during a period of insomnia, so I edited a few times! I think I was trying to ask: Who are the 5 standout fighters for you? I know that might imply people like Duran or Marciano, but really it could be anyone who impresses you.

You know, McCallum is one of the greatest all round boxers I've ever seen. I think he would have fit in beautifully in the so called "golden era". He did everything well and so effortlessly.

    I agree.
Even though I have films of nearly everyone from every decade I lean on guys from mid 70's to 80's as that was my golden age.
Would have loved to include guys like Dempsey Tunney Walcott Charles Napoles ect ect.
