I believe Jason Gavern has a decent chance to beat Deontay Wilder next Saturday. I mean, Wilder was dropped earlier in his career against tomato cans and was even wobbled by a Firtha jab atsch I still don't think this fight will happen, unless Gavern is paid off to take a dive. Who ever hits first probably wins this fight. So what do you think, is Gavern replacing Wilder to face Stiverne for the WBC-title?:think
Gavern is a pretty well known journeyman. Hes pretty much fought a whos who of the division. Does he have a chance? Absolutely not. But he is "known"
Sadly, I honestly believe that Gavern on a good night could pull of the upset. Wilder has tremendous talent, but he is still raw because he has fought only guys who are paid to fall over, and of course, he is almost astonishingly fragile. I hope when Wilder does get completely rolled, regardless of who it is by, he goes back to the drawing board and takes some tough fights. He could be another Michael Grant or Jerry Cooney, and that is no insult, since both of those men had some good wins and contended for the title.
Wilder makes me puke. Hell, he could fight somebody in the top ten, got ranked #1 without fighting anyone ranked. Boxing is crooked...............
Like I said before, he's got some skills and he ALWAYS brings it, but he never gets any time to properly prepare for opponents. It'll be a fun fight while it lasts, then Wilder'll buzz him with a grazing right hand or a wide left hook and probably finish it.
I love me some Jason Gavern fights. Guy puts on a hilarious show and is one of those brave, crazy *******s you rarely see in boxing nowadays.
What's with the Wilder hate? People, go look at Vlad's first 31 opponents. It's disgusting. I'd say that through their 1st 31 fights Scott and Liachovich are better than anything on Vlads early resume. Not to mention that Wilder didn't get beat up by a fighter the calibre of Ross Purrity.
Right. clear dive... So taking that off his resume and all that's left are Fraudley, shot Liakhovich, and Nirtha. Wilder is a complete joke.....
You do know that Ross Purrity has the highest rated chin mathematically over any fighter in history. And he was no slouch. Neither were James Pritchard or Jerry Halstead. And FTR.....Alex Shulz would be a top 5 HW today. And Wlad demolished him from pillar to post. Phil Jackson and Cody Koch were also regulars on the fringe contender list. Just like Liakovich and Scott. :thumbsup Add to that.....it was 3 f/n yrs. 3....not 6/7.:rofl:rofl:rofl
Shultz is a very underrated fighter.... at the very least he should have been a 2x world champion, really the only man to decisively beat him in his prime was Wlad. Making that win ultra impressive. Considering Foreman, Botha, and Moorer couldn't get the job done. Botha and Moorer fights were really, really close though.
I think Wilder fights Gavern because of me. I already mentioned last year, that Gavern would be an huge step up for Wilder actually. He probably read it here. I am sure that Jason Gavern, Brian Minto and Mike Mollo are able to beat him. Just, I am not sure what happened to him during the Mansour fight, he looked terrible. If Gavern gained some motivation from beating Toney, he will be able to knock Wilder out. Just not sure how much is left. Minto and Mollo though destroy him within two rounds.
