Ive had along time out boxing, and Im going to go back.

Before I use to just run on empty belly, and didnt know much about eating the right stuff etc. and for that I was lean with only a little a bit of muscle.

But because Ive done body building since and put on abit of muscle I know now about eating for muscle gains. I know that if you want to gain, you have to eat **** load kcal, protein, carbs etc.

But for my goles which is to lose as limited muscle as possible and still continue to gain muscle how would I go about Early Morning Running?
    Food/Drink/Shake wise

    Thanks guys :D

If it's long period of time training, then get some protein and carbs in your system beforehand even if its a shake.
If its shorter duration, then go empty if you want but have normal post workout eats.

good way to prevent catabolism but still keep blood sugar low enough to burn fat is to take 15-25 grams of whey mixed with water before your run. its also smart to keep it low intensity obviously.

No matter what I eat or drink, exercise first thing in the morning always makes me feel like crap the whole day... not that this has anything to do with the thread!

I agree with the whey + water. tbh, though, I've tried various things and morning exercise never seems to do me any good :/

Only reasons to run in the morning - only time you can or you enjoy running it the morning. I used to do it a few years ago, never stuck to it because I couldn't be bothered when I knew I could run at 7 on the night.

first off, there's no point in going for an early morning run if you're just gonna jog 5 miles (not saying you are, just illustrating a point). And frankly, it doesn't really need to be done every day anyway. 1-3 miles is a more practical length, aim for at least a 6 minute pace (5 is better). Being able to run 3 miles in 15 minutes is valuable for boxing; not a long-ass jog.

As for whether you should eat before or not and what you should eat, I don't really know. Depends partly on how much time you have, though.

before i go for an early jog i usually have a bannana like 15 mins before. Its a quick release of energy and i dont really like running on a totally empty stomach.
