How can anyone think Ward is 'more skilled' than Rigondeaux?

as far as moving up.... it's never gonna happen... rigo's too old.... and loma's a baby in the game.... gradovich ain't nothing but another opponent.

 

Rigondeaux is undoubtedly skilled but so is Ward and while Rigo is a better out boxer than Ward, Ward is far superior on the inside. People who don't think clinching and infighting are skills are showing a deficiency in their own boxing knowledge.

 

So you totally ignore the fact that ward got knocked don by a journeyman?

Donaire is a 5 division world champion and a better win than anyone on wards resume

122 has more quality fighters than 168, who's at 168? An over the hill froch, a shot to **** Kessler ,a really **** Abraham , and a very average bika

 

Clinching when in trouble or to slow down the pace of a gift are skills, clinching excessively through out a fight to stop your opponent doing and thing and setting up your headbutts is cheating

What I'm saying is if your definition of boxing skill is something you learn to be good at through training, techniques etc. forgetting natural physical gifts such as reach, quickness and height, an inside fighter has to acquire more skills to be viable at the elite level and acquiring those skills are harder than most people think. In other words guys like Ward are most definitely highly skilled arguably more skilled than a speedster like Rigondeaux, you may disagree of course ...

Rigo is more skilled but Ward has the better Resume, and its not close

I think it's easier to break down the type of boxing into football terms. In football there are skill positions like QB, WR, RBs, etc etc. Then we have the line positions, the guys who fight on the inside. Both types have to be skilled obviously, but they are different skillsets. You are applying your opinion to this imo. You are saying (paraphrasing here) that inside fighters have more skill than outside fighters because it took more effort to aquire them, as if being an outside fighter one doesn't have to develop as much skill. That's preposterous.

 

bro i dont know how much i need to break it down for you further.

lets take a kid at the gym with natural advantages such as speed, height reach most likely within one year he will beat up most people at range on the outside even though he still has fairly limited skills.

now for that same fighter to start beating up everyone in the gym on the inside ... that's gonna take a whole lot longer and will require attaining knowledge in varied skills & techniques.

But I guess ultimately it comes down to taste.

 

That donaire win is far better than anyone on Wards resume. Let's not forgot Rigo pretty much shut out donaire when donaire was rapidly rising in the p4p ranks.

 

donaire was at least p4p top 5 and was even top 3 in a lot of rankings

since he took that beating of rigo iv seen a lot of people on here act like donaire was barely top 10 pure bs

 

Talent is something you either have or don't

Skill is acquired.

Ward and Rigo are both talented and skilled.

 

Rigo Has 2 Golds ,400 + Amateur bouts ,he's in a different beyond any fighters these days ,which is why no one wants to fight him or Promote him.

 

For one Ward can fight at all ranges unlike Rigo that right there has a lot to do with it. Rigo can't fight on the inside and can't go from defense to offense better than Ward. Ward also has a much better jab than Rigo. With that said both are among the most skilled boxers in the game today and you can't go wrong with either.
