Porters power might be being overrated.

I'm not saying he's feather fisted, far from it and might very well KO Brook, who knows? but in general i'm not sure where this reputation for being a huge puncher comes from (apart from the talk of suspected PED usage).

Fair enough he KO'd Paulie, but Paulie has been getting rocked or put down by fighters who's shots he would have walked through once over. His chin isn't what it was.

His only other KO in the past 4 years was against a fighter in Patrick Thompson who's lost the same amount of fights as he's won, something like won 17 lost 17, and the rest of his KO's were against journeymen, cab drivers etc...on the way up, people he should be knocking out anyway.

It's not to say he can't punch or isn't a good fighter but i'm not quite sure where this reputation of being a beast of a puncher comes from. It's coming off the back of one fight with Malignaggi who i think at this stage was a knockout waiting to happen anyway.

 

Just not sure where this "mini Mike Tyson" thing comes from. Aside from the fact he's quite short compared to many in the division and has a stocky build. He's done nothing to suggest he's a killer in the ring.

 

With that said, I think Brooks conditioning in the past hasn't been great, he's made weight but doing it the wrong way which was leaving him drained. I must say he looks very comfortable right now, more than i've ever seen him.

I have heard talk from people who might be in the know about Brooks chin but at the end of the day, he's never been knocked out in 30+ fights. Khan showed that if you can't take a shot you will be KO'd on your way up the rankings by someone or other, so it's not that simple to say he has a glass chin, there really isn't any evidence to back it up. One thing i do know is the fight with first fight against Carson Jones should he is very tough and can dig deep.

The thing with boxing fans is that if you get wobbled at some point, you have a glass jaw. Then Andre Ward must have have one because he was hurt more against Darnell Boone than Brook has ever been hurt. Ali was out against Cooper and Cooper was no more than a European level fighter....and Ali is considered to have one of the best chins there has been.

As it stands right, Kell Brook has never been knocked out and thats the only stat that matter when speculating on his chin. So far so good. Maybe it will fail him tonight, maybe it won't.

I still think Porter might stop him though.
