Why is everyone acting like porter was just terrible tonight and was skillfully dealt with by brook, what did brook actually do that people are impressed with? To me it looked like porter was desperate for a knockout early and was doing well brook did hold alot khan was slaughtered for holding against collazo but this was far more constant than even that, porter got tired and brook came into it a bit but wasnt that impressive

He was holding because porter just kept runnin low into him throwing wild punches constantly for the whole fight ,not much he could do at all

It wasn't like and andre ward fight where he throws a punch and then jumps in and grabs the other guy before he can do anything

Don't think you can blame Brook for the holding. Porter did a lot of holding himself and seemed to keep hugging Brook around his waist so Brook had to pin Porters arms so Porter wouldn't be able to work his body etc.

It's difficult for Brook to be impressive when fighting such a scrappy fighter. The very fact that he won when many thought Porter was some monster who would knock him out is impressive though.

You complain that people say Porter was terrible and not skillful but don't explain how he was skillful and not terrible.

Pre fight Porter was a mini Tyson.... Post fight he is a headless chicken bum rushing an opponent. His always fought like this, nothing new. Maybe a tad more desperate vs Brook.

Now the win is reduced to what's it supposed to be,,... Porter is still one of the top welterweight out there,,... Brook is just better!

I dont understand how porter running in low justifies brooks holding, i mean porter out manouvered him is it not up to brook to fight inside or stay away from him, ward is slated for holding after a punch but brook wasnt even punching at all for large spells in the beginning

Lots of his deficiencies came to the forefront last night, IMO was not much what Brook did during the fight, but what Porter didn't do when the opportunities were presented...

IMO , is Left Hook Lacy syndrome all over again!

Because Porter was holding too and actually initiating a lot of the clinches.

Guys like Ward etc get slated but they also get praise for being 'crafty' etc

Great fight, clash of styles, was a real 50/50 but since Brook brought his A-game (+) the adage that the 'puncher never beats the boxer' was played out.

I would like to see JMM take on Porter next and Brook-Khan in the UK.
No discredit to either fighter, Porter needs to ditch his dad and use a proper tactician in the ring who would have realised after round 4 that the style they were using was likely to lose. This only changed (with no specific instruction seemingly) in the 9-10th rounds where Porter put his hands up and tried to goad Kell. I thought this might play out more evenly and make Kell's shots less telling/obvious.

I think that anyone at 147 & 154 without a strong and accurate jab and good footwork loses to Porter, he's a beast.

    Top-fight, worthy of the billing!

porter was not initiating, his game plan was to fight hard on the inside it was completely brook in the first 7 rounds of the fight

Porter was AWFUL. Dirty charging shoulder barging head butting brawler. The ref was like someones gran. He is strong and athletic but thats it. He should take the blindfold off to train and then maybe his accuracy will improve.

what did kell brook do to impress people? I understand that porter didnt get that many clean shots in and got worse as the fight went on, but in the beginning he was completely overwhelming brook, he used good footwork and head movement to duck brooks jab and when he got inside he started to bang away but brook would hold immediately this was the genral story in the beginning of the fight, brook took the shots he did land well but he easily could have been hurt

Porter didn't have the physical strength to really maul Brook and move him back when they came together, Brook's a big, strong welter.
I saw a lot of pluses, he's (Porter) got a good chin, he's fast, great footwork, great handspeed, head movement, good variety of punches. He's just a litle wild. They need to work on that, just refine him a bit. He's a good fighter with a wrinkle that needs ironing out.

In your second title defense you should look better. He had no mid fight adjustments .Just kept bull rushing and looping his punches..Fought way to squared up ..
