i just thought porter needed a tighter gameplan, after his succes in the opening 3 or 4 rounds he should boxed a bit then went all out attack again in the final two or three, instaed he kept going till he was ****ed which could have worked because he hurt brook at times but brook survived it and then when porter was tired got a few good shots in and porter didnt really no what to do from then on
Brook did an exorbitant amount of holding early in the fight. But that is the tactic to use when a guy is going to try and maul you on the inside, as long as the ref permits it. There were soft warnings, but no hard warnings, so why stop if it is working? Later in the fight, with the toll of Brook pecking away with the jab and halting Porter's advance with the RH, you saw Porter start to hold. It was a poor performance from Porter, as he didn't have any plan B other than rush and maul, reset, repeat. Not taking away from Brook either as it was his ability to deal with Porter's tactics that led to Porter's poor performance, which should be obvious, but you never know around here.
Marquez would've had a field day against that version of porter. Now I see why Marquez was willing to fight him.
Because the majority on here want fighters coming off losses(especially the first time) to drop Boxing as a profession and join them at delivering Domino's Pizzas.
everything is always a massive reaction, brook was a fraud now hes a god, porter was unstoppable now hes crude club fighter and this is in a really close fight
Porter has no skills at all. Just a great engine, size and decent power. He fights with the temperament and ability of an MMA fighter.
i think your exaggerating a bit here lad, porter seemed to shake brook early on, porter was caught with some good shots near the end too
I honestly thought Brooks chin wouldnt hold out, I wasnt comparing Porter to Tyson but I didnt expect Brook to prevent Porter from getting his punches off. Very scrappy fight but I can remember a handfull of times Brook was tagging Porter but honestly struggle to think of many moments where Porter looked like the man in control. Porter was frustrated and was slamming his head into Brooks cut at times, he couldnt seem to keep his cool whilst Brook kept calm and did the right thing Congratulations to Brook, had a feeling he could pull it off one the cards if it went the distance
Exaggerating? I didn't say he staggering around the ring like a drunk or anything. Ok replace "shaken" with 'stung' or 'buzzed'. I didn't see brook hurt once.
Porters too short to be effective at 154. He may get more power but his stamina won't improve. Now Brook has given a blueprint.... Any of the top 154er will just keep him at bay with the jab and clinch when his close in.
If I do a video analysis of actual landed punches. I am fairly sure that Porter outlanded Brook by a significant margin in most rounds. I had Porter winning comfortably. Had he not gassed they still would have given Brook a split decision win.
