Would you be equally in favor of the referee penalizing Ali for his excessive holding in the Spinks rematch?

It's been a long time since I watched that fight and it's not one of his better ones. I don't remember how much holding there was but if there was a lot then sure penalize him. No one gets a pass. Duran should be disqualified for punching Ken Buchanan in the dick. Mayweather gets disqualified for sucker punching Victor Ortiz, etc. Being special doesn't mean you can break the rules. However, I don't remember the Ali fight in enough detail to say whether he should have been penalized for holding under the rules of the time he was fighting in. Personally, I'd like to see as little holding as possible, ie no holding at all. If people get that close instead of holding they should try infighting. I'd like to see balanced fighters who can defend as well as play offense, who can fight at every range, in a variety of styles.

A boxer who's been inactive for over two years does n't get a title shot before beating a top 10 contender

We'd have been spared some sad sights such as Holmes/Ali and Tyson/Holmes.

Okay,Leonard/Hagler turned out ok but we're talking about a rarity with that one.
