I just ask me, who else then GGG should Cotto fight at 160..

Murray fights Spada for the Silver Belt and even Murray wouldnt make money for cotto...

 

Nothing pathetic about Cotto wanting to make some good money before retiring. Last I remember all of you fools gave him no chance in hell against Martinez. Cotto fought literally everyone in his career, I can't and won't blame him for looking to make some money before he finally puts an end to a very exciting explosive HOF career.

I'd like to see Cotto fight Alvarez or Jermain Taylor(if he beats Soliman) and then retire. Golovkin should work better on scoring other big fights in the process to be worth considering. If you clowns forgot, Cotto made a career giving unknown fighters(Concreto, Trout, Malignaggi, Foreman, Quintana, Torres, Clottey and others) shots when he didn't have to that helped establish their names, he doesn't need to do it at the end of his career when he's the one finally looking for paydays.

 

I've got nothing but respect for Cotto (and Martinez too, for that matter). It's an unnecessary stain on their careers that both have built on a willingness to fight anyone to continue to deny GGG a title shot.

Miguel won't win that fight. That's why there's absolutely zero shame in dropping the title and nobody would blame him for it. He set out what he wanted to accomplish by winning it in the first place; he was never going to win it and defend 10 times. Maintaining it doesn't matter for his popularity- he's already established.

If he defends against guys who aren't real middleweights and keeps the #1 contender away from it, it's going to be a black mark on a career that otherwise really doesn't have any. And that'd be a damn shame. If he's not planning on fighting GGG, just vacate. Problem solved.

For the record, I'll even give him a pass if he fights Alvarez first. But (and that's assuming he wins) if he picks Soliman or Taylor over GGG after that, the fans would be right to criticize the move.

I didn't say they should fight ASAP but you have to admit, it'd be a great fight. Golovkin needs to finish up at 160 in the year or two. Ward needs to move up to 175. The fight needs to happen at 168 though, Golovkin can make that no issues, I doubt Ward can make 160.

You got some nerve calling someone a ******, didn't GGG's camp say "anyone from 154 to 175"? They shouldn't say that if they don't mean it. "ANYONE".

 

It wouldn't make a difference win or lose who Cotto fights next, it will still be criticized. The only reason people are calling for this fight is because they want to see or think it will be nothing but a brutal beatdown. It's all speculation either way, until an official announcement is made the hate will keep pouring out. It would be interesting to see what anyone would do in Cotto's shoes, whether it's Canelo, Martinez if he had retained his title or anyone calling this a duck. I'd love to see the fight, but I also believe Cotto has earned the right to go into retirement on his terms.

I'd be perfectly happy with Cotto vacating and taking the Alvarez megafight.

I'd rather not see him slaughtered vs GGG; I just want GGG to finally get his chance at the title. It was bittersweet that it would've had to come against Martinez and it'll be bittersweet if it comes against Cotto - I like those guys and the writing's on the wall as far as the outcome goes.

 

Not everyone has an agenda. I like and respect both fighters, as do plenty of fans. There's nothing wrong with wanting the top guys in the division to face one another, even if we're used to not getting that anymore.
