William Hill Bookmakers have already priced up a Khan-vs-Brook fight and they have Amir @8/15 and Kell @11/8, and it seems as though the fight has been priced up on their reputations, not what each has done at WW.

In my opinion the bookies have erred in making Khan the favourite (I personally would have Kell @4/9 and Khan @13/8) and I will have a bet on this fight if it gets made (no-one in their right mind should tie up any significant amounts of money on a fight which may not happen). But there can be no doubt that Kell is value at 11/8.

 

Brook will stop Khan, no doubt about it. Khan might look good early but will eventually slow down and open up to Brook's punches. Holding might work for a while but it won't for long. I really can't see Khan beating Brook.

 

Indeed, he almost made it look at times that the holding wasn't his fault which is why Porter got frustrated and always retaliated with rabbit punches.

 

One of the most impressive things about Brooks performance is that he had quite a few sneaky tricks up his sleeve that you usually find in more experienced fighters. Little ways to change the perception of what's happening and little ways to create distance. It was impressive for a guy who's never fought at that level before. His ring IQ is pretty good from what i've seen. Sometimes you don't notice it when you're caught up in the live action but when you see things back on the replay and in slow motion, you can see that he is actually quite crafty.

 

Yes he is, I clearly noticed it in this fight right away to be honest. That's why Brook himself wasn't complaining about the rabbit punches because he knew he was provoking Porter to do so and was well prepared for it. Brook still needs to add more punches to his arsenal other than the typical one twos. Sure, those two punches were more than enough for Porter but other opponents will exploit that. One thing's for sure though, Brook has what it takes to develop all.

 

I think the game plan Brook and his camp formulated for a short, strong (but fairly limited) pressure fighter like Porter, demanded that the one-two (with the odd check left hook and uppercut thrown in) be thrown more than usual. Which is why we only saw a portion of Kell's repertoire. Kell does possess a full arsenal of punches which will no doubt be utilised when he fights a more refined opponent, but to beat Porter I guess Team Brook felt that the time-honoured "ol 1-2" was the way to go.

You're bang on about Brook's "Old pro" maneuvers!! As a Kell fan, they were a nice surprise and a joy to watch. It was the one area that I felt Porter could have a door threw which he would be able to dominate the fight, but Kell more than held (excuse the pun) his own.

Prior to the fight, I did feel that we were yet to see the very best of Brook, and I still feel that there is more to come.

Like you, I beleive that Kell will beat Khan comfortably! And the fact that the UK bookies have Khan as the 8/15 favourite could mean as nice a return as when Wlad Klitschko beat David Haye (I still cannot get over that price!!!!).

 

I was surprised that Porter wasn't hurt more from them shots...I don't see Brook landing chopping right hands on Khan though...he isn't 5'6" without a jab like Porter....

Look at him walk in hands down ready to throw his looping shots whilst Brook easily and nicely counters, you really think Khan would be in that position?

Khan to win the early rounds off the jab....then Brook slowly adjusts and the fight gets interesting as he starts to get counters in and his own shots. I can't comment on how the rest of the fight would turn out but damn we need this fight!

 

That's a good point about us not seeing his entire repertoire the other night. Although later in the fight he landed that short left hook counter a lot. It was Mayweather esque. He's very skilled, it has to be said, and I think people will see a lot more of it next time out.
