PISH! Armstrong would plant his head in an opponents chest and throw 'blind' windmill shots with both hands to head and body with nowt but a bob for defense.

Frazier on the other hand liked range for his money punch: the Philladelphia left-hook. Totally different strategy, had an Archie Moore crossed hands defense. Armstrong was way more wild and could disregard opponents punches way more given that he didn't fight at heavy weight.

I mean, Frazier would blast people and Armstrong would wear them down. Just so different in so many ways.:think

Frazier did have a great left hook, but are you stating that it wasn't his gameplan to wear his opponents down? Blasting people out sounds more like George Foreman or Tyson, not the incredibly condition nonstop Frazier. And saying that Hank just planted his head and threw blindly totally disregards the man's talent. He had an incredible sense of awareness and timing, and really landed great punches when he squared his opponents up and position his left shoulder on theirs. Watch Frazier attacking an opponent on the ropes and honestly say it's nothing like Hank.

Well, it's as much like Hank as ANYBODY attacking on the ropes non?

You may as well say boxers are all identical in that they extend their arms!

Frazier is not the most dissimilar to Armstrong but identical or comparable styles I don't believe they share.

The real similarities on all technical and subtle levels come form those from the same stable/trainer for me. Lewis - W Klit as said above is poignant. Pacquiao - Khan also (although they differ more recently).

    Lemieux - Hagler anyone?

Both Joe and Hank were all out pressure fighters. That's their biggest similarity.
